Description This is part of my new Godzilla design for my film. I used some influences from Todd Tennant's ( ) G'94 Godzilla, Godzilla GMK, Godzilla Heisei, Godzilla 1954, and Matt Frank's ( ) Godzilla Neo to make it look more like the King of the Monsters and more realistic than the previous two sketches and overall de-raptorize it, while still being dinosaurian. For his head, I used Todd Tennant's head drawing and added GMK's brow (to make the Heisei-style enlarged cranium less pronounced) and some fenestrae to make a more dinosaurian image. This sketch isn't finished, and will be posted when it is. This maybe moved to scraps when I upload the full picture.

Not bad. Your drawing abilities are better than you give credit . _BatBat from SHH boards

The head of a Tyrannosaurus rex is more fitting for Godzilla's design anyway.

For a head, it's a decent enough design. The face looks very expressive, which is important for Godzilla (Godzilla's ability to convey emotion is one of the reason I think the character's lasted so long). While it does look more t.rex-ish than Godzilla-ish, a wildly different noggin is common amongst all Godzilla suits. As long as it can be expressive, it can work. And this head works.

So, your planning to make his build more like a Gojiran's or a humans? Good choice, it will make the design much truer to the original, and personally I thought the first designs, while nice, were essentially just a T-Rex with spikes on his back, not Godzilla.

As I've said about my Godzilla redesign, it will be using some reptilian and dinosaurian features to make Godzilla more realistic, but his build will still be upright and humanoid like the classic Godzilla, albeit leaner, but not to the point where he is anorexic.

It's a small step up but I must echo 's sentiments. It's still too saurian, I wouldn't know it was a Godzilla if I hadn't been told it was one; it could just as easily be mistaken for a caricatured T. Rex. Also, the fenestrae just look... bad. Can't say I've ever liked this tendancy for some palaeoartists to overexaggerate the fenestrae in dinosaur skulls to the point where they look emaciated.

Thank you for your input!
Could you make a list of the changes you are suggesting to help me to implement them in the full picture?

M'kay.

First and foremost, lose the concave fenestrae. They look stupid. Such thin menbranes covering those gaps are just begging for a struggling opponent to peirce them. I'd suggest replacing them with a series of lumpy ridges; they've been on every Godzilla costume ever and are easily his defining facial characteristic.

I know you hate Godzilla's ears but they go a long way in accentuating his features. Perhaps a middle ground can be reached, like a pair of stubby, earlike horns.

I'd also suggest making him less obviously Tyrannosaurid and more of an amalgamation that can't be pinned down as any specific theropod. Give him mystique, make him visually distinctive, not just a T. rex cosplaying as Godzilla.

I can't really tell if this sketch has them, but I might suggest putting lips on him, Godzilla pulling back his lips to reveal those teeth is a very iconic image, I might also suggest making his teeth more peg like, for crunching bone, I do like that you shortened the skull, though.

Overall, an improvement.

err it looks ALITTLE less like a trex then before but still looks ALOT like a trex, not so much godzilla, I mean I would never make the comparsion or even think of it unless mentioned.

Do you have any recommended changes to remedy that problem?

Um try to make his snout shorter for one little less trex like and more recgonizable as godzilla.

You've certainly succeeded in making a Godzilla that's both dinosaurian and still recognizable to fans of the original.
