The long wait had ended. It was the early morning and the sun was just beginning to crest. The ground was covered in a morning fog as hundreds of silhouettes rushed from it. They made no noise, no yells or battle cries. Instead, their rifles yelled for them

The Empire had come.

Across the free colonies, the Empire had been swallowing up entire systems, taking entire sectors on their approach. Few systems could hold, though many tried. System after system, the swarms of imperial clone soldiers would rush into enemy positions like ants. Soaking up bullets, and chipping away at the defenses. Wave after wave, until eventually the defenses gave out and the swarm would overwhelm.

All anyone could do was hope they could hold out long enough for salvation
