As the party set off further into the depths of the swamps of Balkur, more and more were picked off. The only friendly face encountered not trying to eat us or kill us seemed to be the only part of civilization out in this hellish swamp. But as the saying goes "The only things that live out in Balkur are things that don't want to be found." Our 'hosts' turned out to be a coven of vampires, and the guards in glimmering pristine uniforms were their thralls. The party got out with their lives, all except five. Torn apart by the vicious man-bat beast creatures they turned into. Private First Class Vespear and two fauns that were under out protection gone in an instant. Private Amari, the harpy medic, turned on by one of our Lycans and slaughtered for entertainment. And Gaelinis, our Lycan who betrayed us
