Description
Three rounds plunged straight through the Terran frigate, as it was torn asunder, the engines detonating with one of the shots. Where combat started far away, as the fleets had begun firing volleys, the lines slowly and gradually moved closer and closer, becoming increasingly lethal to each other. Husks of what once were ships float among the scrap and remains of their own hulls and flashes of light from vessels being struck light up the area before quickly vanishing in the vacuum. Fighters dancing among the stars as their exhaust spirals and twirls through the void.

The Azen squadron 198 'Fireflies' moved quickly through the battleground running interception on smaller snub-craft. Rounds from railguns soared past them towards the larger ships of the Imperial Navy.

"Stay on their tail, don't let them get back to that floatilla!"

A barrage slammed into the destroyer next to them as the flare of fire snuffed out quickly as the trio chased down their counter-parts. The pilots staying tracked on their targets through tunnel vision, missing the display just by them. Warning lights of smaller debris flashed up on their screens as paint flakes and metal impacted into the fighter, scraped off the side, or barely missed it.

"Captain we've got another inbound squadron, we've got to break off before they hit us."

"Hold fast, stay on their tail!" Captain Itano called out on comms as she released the safety and fired rounds from the fighters' machine guns, one making contact with the Terran fighter, as the engine lit up.

The Admiralty of the Forward Imperial Naval Task Force paced in his flagship 'Eunbich Dal'. Despite outnumbering the Terran forces, the Imperial navy's vessels were smaller lightly armored ships in comparison to the Terrans heavier vessels. The Task force was meant to be a forward element in preventing a complete Federation superiority in the Dark marches and to hold out until the main Azen armadas could make it forward, however an err in judgement in the planning room was made with his fellow senior officers in launching an attack. The Federation was both prepared and waiting for one, predicting the Empire's usual military doctrine of overwhelming and had been lying in wait for just such an attack.

"Admiral Yin, another frigate has been crippled in the first floatilla, and we've no response from Rear Admiral Genni. His ship may have been disabled."

Yin paced, looking over the projection of the battlefield as his numbers dwindled lower and lower, and only the occasional federation craft would disappear from the map signaling it's destruction. Occasionally ships would change color to 'yellow' on the projection, signaling that they've signaled for a 'white flag'. (A mostly universally accepted rule of engagement when a vessel can no longer continue the fight, and will opt to sit out the fight to save itself and it's crew rather than continuing to the very end.) His brow sweat ever so slightly as the room felt hotter and hotter.

"Sir, We've lost another two corvettes and a Destroyer."

Yin stopped pacing as he looked to the Ensign, "Call up the Federation Fleet. We'll ask for a ceasefire on terms that we'll cede this portion of space."

"Aye sir."
