I know I'm probably on this one, but I still wanted to make it anyways. We all know about Godzilla Jr by this point, he's godzilla's adopted child in the heisei timeline and was usually the one who was looked more fondly to than Minilla. Much like his father, he went through a few changes with each film (As well as his name being different in each), going from a little hatchling Godzillasaur, to eventually becoming the new king of the monsters.

Baby Godzilla - Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II (1993).

Little Godzilla - Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla (1994).

Godzilla Junior/Godzilla (Rebirth) - Godzilla vs Destoroyah (1995).

Godzilla - Godzilla vs Gigan Rex (2022).

Now, while I am aware that Godzilla vs Gigan Rex could still be it's own thing, there are a lot of implications in the short film that suggest that the godzilla we see in it is in fact the adult junior.

First, the film begins and ends with a shot that basically references and echoes the final shot of Godzilla vs Destoroyah.

Second, the music and even some of the sounds used in the film come from that of the Heisei films.

Third, Godzilla's design in the short is very much heisei inspired, with him even having the second rows of teeth.

Fourth, The voice over at the beginning of the film comes from that of actress Megumi Odaka, who played Miki Saegusa throughout the heisei films.

And Fifth, it is mentioned in the voice over that it had been a quarter of a century ago since Godzilla disappeared, the approximate time between the release of Godzilla vs Destoroyah and Godzilla vs Gigan Rex.

So, with all of that, it seems to be very much that this is in fact the adult junior after so many years, finally getting some sort of continuation.
