Description Another tea time painting. This one was inspired by a photo I keep on my fridge of my grandfather and little cousin. The majority of children born into my family have been girls, so at one point or another fathers and grandfathers alike participated in girly activities. I don't expressly remember having tea time with my grandfather, but I do remember using my mother's good china for my parties.

This is also dedicated to my Grandfather who passed away this year. He used to tell me I looked beautiful every time he saw me. That meant the world to me. Love you Papa.

At first I thought, 'How very cute.' But then the more I looked at it the warmer I got on this cold winter morning and suddenly my feet weren't so cold any more. Thanks for the wonderful gift of a look into your kind world of fond memories.

I call my grandpa Papa too... D': I used to have tea parties with my father (who a serious manly man) and it just sparked emotions in me, that I thought were lost forever. Thank You.

A very lovely piece that captures a lot of emotion in so many ways. Everything from the little girl's expression to the color palette makes me think of a loving, warm and happy time. Very well done and congrats on your greatly deserved DD.

It's very rare for me to come across a piece of art that actually provokes an emotion in me. Adding to favorites for sure.

Awww that is just darlingggggg. I never had tea parties with my grandparents, since they were all over a thousand miles away mostly when I was growing up. I do have a teddy bear tea set that my mum's folks gave me for Christmas though. I love the colouring job overall; all the details, the lighting, and all the different textures, especially for the walls and carpet and rug. And how you've put detail in the lace/doilies (sp?) underneath the china and all. That really grabbed my attention. I love the shading you've put in everything, especially in the grandfather's clothing and the shadows around his forearm. I'm just simply amazed by it all. The colours go so well together and they compliment each other. I really like how you've handled the lighting and put highlights on the furniture and everything because of the light source coming from outside the window, especially the little highlights on the curtains. The overall concept is just darling and makes me wish I could've had a tea party with my grandparents. I love how the little girl's excited by the party, or it seems like it the way her tea's jostling around in her teacup. It's just soooo cute. You should be extra proud of this one. It's just darling. I could probably stare at this in awe for hoursssss and go on and on about it buttttt I'll resist. XD
I'm sorry that your grandfather passed away, but at least you have memories of him.

Thank you! What nice things to say. I don't quite under stand what you mean by (sp?) when you are talking about the lace doily. What's that?

You're welcome! And (sp?) from my understanding is short for spelling, as in I wasn't sure how to spell 'doilies' so I winged it. Haha

Yeah! I have a feeling if we have a daughter she will be like most women in my family. Adventurous, but still able to sit down to a civilized tea party.

The other thing I remember my grandfather for is hurts donuts. He'd always ask me if I wanted a "hurts donut" then he'd punch me in the arm and say "hurts don't it".
