Have a couple quick exsperiments. One with simplifying the figure as I feel I often have more than I need to, and one with rain and suigesting a bg with simple forms rather then detail. Whatcha guys think?

Nice atmosphere you got going on here. I'm not sure what you mean by 'simplifying the figure' but Cynder looks good anyway. The rain looks good for the most part, though it looks a bit like it continues past the ground, which is a bit odd. It'd look better if it was sorta bouncing off the ground and Cynder, to give us the impression that it's actually physical water and not just static in the air or something. I can also see a lot of what appear to be uncoloured pixels surrounding Cynder's lineart, which makes it look a bit unfinished.
