This is my entry for 's Legends contest.

So for this contest we're supposed to draw a trainer with a full team of six pokemon, battling against at least one legendary. At first I thought of drawing Ho-oh and Lugia since they're my favourites by far, but I've already done a pretty recent piece featuring them so i had to cast around for other legendaries instead. Those from Hoenn onwards were OUT since they looked too machine-y, and I absolutely hate drawing metallic pokemon like rayquaza/magnezone/bronzor and the like. So in the end i chose the trusty three legendary birds, my favourites from the Kanto region

In this battle is my OC, Vanilla, with her team of six pokemon: Absol, Togekiss, Blissey, Scizor, Altaria and Kingdra. She's the one on the back of the Altaria in the background, by the way. Barely visible, but still there! These are the pokemon that I would choose if I had to form a team for competitive battling, they're all awesome and quite aesthetically pleasing which is really important to me when I pick pokemon...i would never use Drowzee for example, sooooo ugly wtfreak. I've never actually used these pokemon altogether in a team before when playing on my PC; since I've never had the chance to play the games on any kind of handheld console, this team has never been tried and tested in competitive battling either but I would definitely like to! That's why I'm entering this contest so that for the first time in my life I can really try out the game-playing experience. And with the latest Black/White version no less!

To better explain the action, here's what's going on in this pic:
Articuno is firing an Ice Beam onto Poseidon (Kingdra), driving it back against a barely-visible rock in the water.

Since Poseidon is resistant to almost all attack types, it barely takes damage from Ice Beam and counters with a Draco Meteor (hence the glowing purple eyes). Draco Meteors flame across the sky and narrowly miss Articuno (the flameball thing on the right).

Gelato (Absol) literally leaps to Poseidon's aid from the barely-visible rock behind him, powering up a Night Slash at the same time.

Moshilove (Togekiss) has managed to drive Moltres into the sea, which I think would have greatly weakened Moltres in real life since its flame wings would be doused by the water. Moltres attempts a last defense with a Flamethrower, which Moshilove evades by using Aura Sphere to dive through the flames

Chillicrab (Scizor), paralyzed by Zapdos's Thunderwave and hence unable to fly, takes a breather on the rocks to the right.

Zirabelle (Blissey) is healing Chillicrab with Aromatherapy, and is offering to use Softboiled to heal him further. Awww. Isn't that nice of her

My character Vanilla, riding on the back of Cirrus (Altaria), chases Zapdos, who is preparing another Thunderwave attack to defend itself.
I tried to portray a greater sense of teamwork and drama in this piece since it's supposed to be a battle of EPIC proportions. Having three legendaries helps with that so it's not just every pokemon barraging the poor legendary with attacks. I also hope I managed to convey a kind of story with this piece it definitely was in my mind when I did this!

By the way I spent HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS on this, I don't even remember how long it took anymore = = I didn't even think I could finish it. THIS is the reason I practically didn't work on anything else for about a month, guys. To all the guys that I owe stuff to, please don't kill me!

Also, I just found out I have approx. a month to get 20 pieces of drawings from life observations together, and submit them as a portfolio to this art school I'm applying to. LIKE JUST KILL ME PLEASE. No more sleep for the next month TT.TT

Needless to say I'd be very very happy, and very very appreciative, if you could vote for me Voting is only by %PokemonDaily members, but each one of you, and your support, means LOADS to me! I don't even know how I can express this - but to say that I would be eternally grateful is not too much of an exaggeration~

.....Even if I don't win this contest I'm still really happy with this pic Creating it gave me a great sense of attachment to it, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out considering the amount of effort I put in. So yeah
