This one is just almost there... Would like to see some stuff in the background (not necessarily in focus, just other little tidbits that make it feel more than just a cup on an empty table) and something about the way the chocolate is coming off the marshmellows just doesn't feel quite right. But you have a great start for a wonderful piece! Pushed just a bit, this average shot has a lot of potential.

Great feedback, thanks. I'm pretty happy with the way the mug and the cinnamon stick looks, but I agree, there is definitely room for improvement.
The cocoa was added to the marshmallows with texture painting. I used the same mask as part of the displacement for the cocoa appear to be pushed off the 'mallows, but the contrast on the mask might be too high for that. I should maybe try duplicating and blurring the masks and use that for the displacement.
I also agree with the background being too plain, I wasn't really sure what to put back there. I'll have to put on my interior decorator hat and think of something. Maybe some candles or other knickknacks. I had thought about ending the wood surface sooner and showing the out-of-focus HDR environment map I'm using, but I'll lose the steam from the cocoa a little if I have too much contrast back there.
