Description (EDIT: I wasn't happy with Play's colors, so I fixed them. Also changed out that eyesore of a background.)

I am weak, for I have fallen into yet another fandom that has taken over my life, and it isn't even attached to a comic or full story of any kind, yet.

Media Controls: a concept created by the lovely and talented UnknownSpy (unknownspy.deviantart.com/ ).

I fell in love with this creative concept and when she said that she welcomed fan created controls (so long as they followed her guidelines, listed and explained here: unknownspy.deviantart.com/art/…unknownspy.deviantart.com/art/… ) my brain went apeshit, and now I have so many of these characters to digitally paint it's ridiculous.

So to clear these from my subconscious and be able to move on with more important things (like college work) I give these FC controls...I hope they're within the guidelines because god dammit I love them.

Quick (by my standards) bits of info:

Play

New to the system, Play is an extremely emotional control with a childlike sense of wonder. She can become extremely aggressive and violent if provoked, gets attached to people very easily, is very sensitive to others’ feelings, especially about the ones they have towards her, and she can be a crybaby at times. She also is extremely empathetic, has an almost nurturing nature, and is surprisingly forgiving (once she calm herself down that is). Because she died very soon after been being created (born? Made? Spawned in? What is the term they use?) She can be a bit scatterbrained and forgetful. This combined with the fact that she’s naturally very curious, leads to her getting into trouble a lot. Nevertheless, she is very dedicated to her job, determined to prove herself, and trusts her teammates with her life (most of them anyway). She has a lot to learn, and with the system being in the state it’s in, she’s going to have to learn fast.

She is a part of Record’s surveillance team. She was supposed to be Pause’s new partner, but he rejected her and allowed her to get killed during a glitch attack. After that, Record no longer trusted Pause with a permanent partner but knew Play was still too new to be left to her own devices so she ordered Stop to take her on as his new partner. Her abilities are support based, being able to send any object flying forward (it only continuously goes forward as long as she’s touching the object), and having the power to soothe another control’s pain and weariness (again, it only works if she’s touching them) so they can keep going even when injured. Because her powers aren’t that helpful in one on one combat, she was given a spear by Edit.

Pause

A veteran of the Revolt that nearly destroyed the system, Pause tends to keep to himself. Extremely standoff-ish and constantly in a state of frustration and depression, Pause seems to be constantly stuck in the past; spending much of his free time either wandering between four specific spots in the system or reading memory logs at the library. Before the Revolt, he was a good member of Record’s team, brash but brave and loyal. Now, after being betrayed by and losing of his old partner/ boyfriend (bricked to death) best friend, he’s become a coward who only does his job in hopes of making into the next day. Nothing else matters. No one else matters. Play wishes she could help him. Stop wonders if there’s any way to get him back.

He is a part of Record’s surveillance team. He was supposed to be Play’s original partner, but he rejected her and let her get killed in a glitch attack. His abilities are defensive, with the power to create Shields, walls, domes, and boxes around himself or make them appear around somebody close to him to stop whatever hits them dead in their tracks. But here's the catch: The shields shatter after one hit and the attacker is only stunned for a second. Since he prefers to work alone now, Edit has made him a pair of knives, one for throwing, and the other for close-range combat.

Stop

Tough, dignified, dedicated to his job, and loyal to his superior, Stop is the strongest and now most experienced member of Record’s team. He takes his job of the surveillance of the system, as well as the safety of his teammates, very seriously. He always pushes his teammates to practice whenever they can and get stronger, because he may not always be able to protect them. He comes off as a workaholic since he tends to spend his nights helping Record when he should be resting. Normally he works alone or directly with Record, being more of a commander than a teammate to his fellow media controls. After the revolt, Stop got saddled with the new Play as a partner when Pause rejected her. He wasn't very keen on being a mentor figure (see parent) to a very new control, finding Play to be very hard to work with. Her curiosity and emotion drove impulses would often get in the way of perfectly completing a mission like he was used to doing and at first, he only saw as a helpless (albeit very cute) liability in need of protection rather than as a fellow media control. It wasn't until she saved him from being killed by a strider glitch and helped him defeat it, that he began to see her as an equal. After that, Play’s naturally affectionate and determined personality started to grow on him, allowing him to loosen up a bit and driving her to try harder to be a good teammate. As a result, the two of them now make a pretty good team. One that hopefully will be able to clean up the mess the Play’s predecessor left behind.

He is Record’s second in command and the leader of her surveillance team. His powers involve the endlessly extending red chains that attach his hands to his body (Rewind dubbed them his “freeze chains” and it stuck). Wrapping the chain around his arms, he can throw them a long distance to ensnare enemies, completely paralyzing and trapping them. Once they’re caught, he can use the chains to throw the trapped enemy around or bring them closer so that he can kick and stomp them (the chains will break after a particularly strong kick) If an enemy gets too close for him to use the Freeze chains, the hands on the end pack a decent punch.

Rewind

He is basically the peacemaker of Record’s team. Normally cool headed and filled with optimism (for others, not so much for himself), Rewind is basically the glue that can hold the team together through tough times. Granted there are some arguments you just can't find a compromise for, but that won't stop him from trying. If you need to talk about anything, he's always glad to lend an ear.  If you need advice or help, he'll do his best to give it. On the battlefield, however, it's a very different story. He loves showing off his powers and feels he could take on anyone...but only if Fast Forward is helping him. Without her, he feels weak and tends to lose a lot of his confidence in battle. He and Fast Forward have always been together, are rarely seen apart, and hate being separated for too long. He was an absolute wreck when Fast Forward was taken hostage during the Revolt and now prays to Power that it will never happen again.

He is a part of Record’s surveillance team. When alone, his power is to force a moving object or attacking enemy back to its original position. This can give him space and time to launch an attack from a distance. When he and Fast Forward are touching, he also has the power to slow down time for few seconds, and can instantly move them back to a previous position, making the duo hard to pin down.

Fast Forward

A rowdy, athletic, and slightly depressed college student who has trouble sitting still for more than a few minutes: That Fast Forward’s personality in a nutshell. Often called “Fast” by her friends, Fast Forward is a flighty and mischievous prankster who’s willing to go all out for a joke but will always pull it back when she sees it's gone too far. She can also be very ill tempered at times; quick to pick a fight no matter who the perpetrator is. Thankfully, Rewind is usually there to keep her from making mistakes that she’ll regret later. Her and Rewind have always been together, are rarely seen apart, and hate being separated for too long.  She has a very “play before work” kind of attitude and will never turn down an opportunity to show off; though this attitude has been dialed back a lot since the Revolt. It was her need to show off that got her caught and taken as hostage in the first place, and her hot headed-ness led to her friend Skip (who had joined the Revolt, only to defect when Fast was captured and beating up for information) being found and deleted. During the day when she's working, the memories don't bother her too much, but she's often heard crying at night.

She is a part of Record’s surveillance team. When alone, her powers simply super speed. Handy for running errands and sucker punching enemies. When she and Rewind are touching, she can distort time around her, making it speed up for a few seconds and gains an intuition about what their enemies next move will be (It's not always 100% accurate, but it's normally pretty close).

Sync (function, he/him)

One of the longest lasting controls in the System, Sync is the closest thing to being an old man that any control will ever experience. With a grand total of seven eyes (two are on the back of his head and usually covered by his hair, I'll have to upload that later), it is a complete mystery how he has not turned into a bug yet. He has completely forgotten his early life and overall has little in the way of personal memories. That being said, he has somehow retained everything he's ever learned about the system itself (memory logs help a lot) and knows it like the back of his hand. He is sage-like and mysterious with a rustic and fierce edge to his normally polite mannerisms.  Since his job is not as useful as it once was, most of his time you spend in bars drinking, out in the circuits… drinking...but this time on top a fallen circuitry, or just lying on his back looking up at the sky...and drinking. He drinks a lot. Because of his intimidating size and his loner lifestyle, nowadays most controls forget he even exists, but this doesn't bother him really at all. He even said as much to Play when she came across him by accident after getting lost one day. Though he quickly returned her to Stop before they had much of a chance to talk, Play still felt a little bad for him, so the following night she tracked him down and talked with him for a few hours. This has become a nightly routine for her, and the two have grown very close as a result.

He is technically Connection’s partner, but the two actually very rarely work together, because, for reasons he does not understand (or remember as the case may be), Connection is absolutely terrified of him. His job involves taking foreign files, documents, objects, anything really from other systems and making it compatible with his, so that the object can work properly without breaking down, bugging out, or causing a glitch/error attack. When he is able to do his job he is very, very good at it. Outside of being very tall and physically strong, he has no powers, so he was given a crossbow (it shoots laser bolts ) a very time ago.

Error

A concept for a new species. Normally rare and considered minor annoyances, but thanks to the massive amount of damage done by the Revolt, Errors have become huge pests and are extreme nuisances. Small, incredibly stupid, aggressive, persistent, and lacking any form of self-preservation, or care for their surroundings, these little bastards can attack anywhere at any time. You are never safe from them! Ever!

However, don't be too concerned with them. Most errors are completely incapable of killing controls on their own. If they do get close enough to a control to bite them, the affected control will freeze completely, get a static effect on their body and will remain completely stuck in place until someone comes along and kills the error; which is easy considering they are extremely weak and die in one hit from most attacks. Sometimes they will gather in large groups and form walls in the middle of passageways, making it impossible for anything to get through. Again this is very easy to deal with; kill a few near the bottom and watch as the rest tumble to the ground and die on impact. Sometimes they're even known to eat files and important documents, and while they can be easily killed you can't really get the documents back.

Really the only time an Error will ever actually be dangerous to a control is if one attacks in the middle of a glitch attack or while fighting a virus, which turns the control into a Sitting Duck.

I hope you enjoy them, and please comment if you do!

His old partner Play 1.0 (as in not the same one as the little fluffy headed triangle cat pictured) was an even bigger edgelord, all depressed and hating life and authority and shit.

But he's dead, so now Pause holds the edgelord crown!
