I watched the recent season 2 episode batch of The Ghost and Molly McGee on Disney+ and upon watching the episode "Double, Double, Darryl & Trouble" I thought Larry Koopa would do exactly what Darryl did in that episode... purposefully become a wraith to avoid responsibility! Like how Darryl purposefully became a wraith so he didn't have to clean the wall during Recess, Larry would purposefully become a wraith so he doesn't have to do the work that Bowser orders, such as leading and ordering minions to assist in taking over lands, stealing magical objects such as gems from Jewelry Land or Big Paint Stars from Prism Island and defeating Mario in battle. As a ghost outside of his body, Larry can just do whatever he wants such as eating and sleeping whenever he wants to without fear of Bowser scolding him for slacking off or for if he chose not to do as ordered... Yes, Larry would totally become a wraith to slack off.
