I'm having a thought here. How about using a low altitude high speed attack aircraft with one cruise missile tipped with a Trinity warhead (Ace Combat: Assault Horizon reference).

Unbeknownst to the RDA and the Na'vi the Limmanian government had launched an independant attack on the "tree of souls" at about the same time as the RDA did. The operation was called "Broadsword Aggression" and planned the two B-34 Thunderstrike bomber squadrons "Hotel" and "Whisky", each consisting of five planes, to destroy the tree and the surrounding area with conflagrative as well as cluster bombs.
"Hotel" and "Whisky" would fly in high altitude over the area, being protected by the two figher-bomber squadrons "Aquila" and "Pegasus" (both AASF-03c "Phönix II").

But due to political reasons the operation was cancelled in last-minute. The UTN (Union of Trian Nations) decided that this way to get rid of the natives was way to inhuman and should only be used as the very last solution. The Limmanian Royal Forces had no choice but to give in to these orders.

Later on the tree was conquered by the Limmanians and built a base around though, taking at least the place itself away from the natives and thus lowering their moral.

it was quite a strong scene in the movie, but tactical nonsense to me.
