Interesting fact is that the RDA was gaining the upper hand in that battle, until Eywa intervened. While the air battle started pretty much even, the Na'vi ground force was practically obliterated in the first few minutes. Another thing is that the atmospheric conditions were an adventage to the RDAs weaponry (20% denser the Earth, significant levels of Methanegas), making missile blasts more effective even with flux effect reducing tracking capabilities (I call laser designation on this one, still counts as shooting on sight). And even after most of the RDA force was taken out by Pandoras wildlife the Valkyrie and the Dragon were still flying. Only through Sullys intervention (and ductnades) could the day be saved!

Well the reason why the Dragon and Valkyrie where still operational is because the Dragon was the far better equiped then the scoprions or the samsons, and the Valkyrie because it was the most well defended.

Indeed, the dragon was practically a flying cruiser with all those point defense guns and the Valkyrie spacecraft was designed to operate anywhere, from the vacuum of space to the atmosphere of Gas giants (for gas mining, written in the pitch bible) making it almost indestructible, not to mention the extra armament applied by Quaritch.

Can operate in any condition, no defense against duck tape grenades.........I see a design flaw.

Well, it was never meant for combat, then again the Dragon got ripped to shreds by one of its own missiles and that thing wasn't even activated!
PS: Ducktnades (DUCK Tape greNADES) is just fine, and short.

Even though the RDA says its not made for combat, I have to call shenanigans......It has enough firepower to destroy an area the size of manhattan in less then 3 seconds.....with no nukes

Ahm, excuse me but I guess we ran into some derp there. I was originally referring to the shuttle not beeing suited for combat. The Dragon on the other hand was the big mean gunship with said conventional firepower to level a city district in mere seconds!

That and the fact missiles do a lot worse against living creatures than machines. Giant arrows through the canopy also may have had something to do with it...

that part made no sense. dont you think that the Scorpions and the Samsons would have bullet-proof windows?

Those arrows came from an above angle, with the banshee's dive and gravity on their side. Not to mention that they were the size of ballista missiles. Bulletproof or not, those windows would get a hard time indeed stopping them.

but even with all of that i think it would take multiple arrows to pierce the glass
