Louis XIV was able to stay alive, and later return to Paris, while still being the King. After a bloody civil war in which Britain gleefully looked on as France tore itself apart, Louis XIV was able to keep his (much weakened Kingdom). The victory was not really Louis', his generals and the Austrians who intervened on his behalf. With French Republic returned to the Monarchy, and the radical-turned Dutch and Swiss republics under Hapsburg occupation (something which really, really, pissed off Britain, but not enough to make Britain do anything about it- after all, holding down France was hard enough), Republicanism in Europe was fairly dead. The Industrial Revolution was lead on by Kings, with weaker parliaments. The shaky French monarchy had a second revolution, after which France was more or less a British puppet.

The Mexican-American never happened. A much, much stronger Britain (one that was able to grab most of the areas that could be colonized, keep them happier and less likelier to revolt than OTL, and industrialize them) intervened on the side of the South in the Civil War, and also helped Texas gain its independence from Mexico, in the 1860s. The next major war between the U.S.A., and the C.S.A., occurred in the 1900s (by which time the C.S.A. had gone full blown facist). Thanks to a lack of intervention from Britain, the U.S.A. was able to retake Missouri, Kentucky, and Part of Virginia, and also make Sequoyah a buffer state.

Sequoyah, was able to pull off what the Paraguay of our world did (and what this world's Paraguay did not) do; it mainly speaks Cherokee. The U.S. government, before the Civil War, filled it up with loads of plains natives (as a sort of single reservation), and freed blacks, most of whom adopted Cherokee. Large numbers of the less-racially intolerant settlers also came, leading to Sequoyah today being proudly independent, multi-racial, and fiercely supportive of its language and writing system. Its also a bit overly militarized and paranoid, being surrounded by the *Facist (but not so much Racist as Anti-Semitic) U.S., the equally *Facist but very much race-based C.S.A., and Wild-West show in Texas (but where instead of going after the indians, the sheriff goes after rebels armed with machine guns). Further west, the theocracy of Deseret is busy sending out missionairies to the whole world. Like Sequoyah, Deseret uses its own alphabet (but stills speaks in English).

When, in 1905, Britain was hugely worried about the growing power of Russia, it approached Austria (now increasingly refferred to as the Holy Roman Empire, since the the HRE actually gained importance, rather than losing like OTL). Britain thought it could dislodge the Russians from Northern India, Afghanistan, and conquer Russia's Persian allies. At the same time, Britain thought that that both Russia and the HRE empire would get bogged down in Europe. Unfourtunately, although Britain was successful, the HRE was more successful than London thought it could ever be. The Holy Roman Empire, which sees itself as the Protector of Christendom, the liberator, educator, and Converter of colored peoples under the British boot, industrialized faster than Britain itself. The German armies, the first in the world to utilize the aeroplane and to use radio on a large scale, quickly pounded Russia and made it all the way to Moscau in five weeks.

Now, 21 years later, in 1926, the world is mostly at a late 19th century level of technology, save the Holy Roman Empire which has close to the military technology OTL Nazi Germany. Britain and Russia, now strange bedfellows, are struggling to copy bits of the Holy Roman war-tech before it's too late. Everyone is certain that soon a war will come between the Anglo-Russian Alliance and the Holy Roman Empire.

The world is mostly made up of old-fashioned conservative types, though Britain is unusually proggressive for a nation (say, about at the same level as OTL, despite the rest of the world being at a Pre-French Revolution level of Politics). Evolution is only now being seriously debated in Britain, and the coming backlash to hasn't come yet, given that it is still a little-known idea. Television and Radio, are only now being owned in a few households in Europe.

Nearly a million troops are along the Franco-Roman border, and over three million are along the Russo-Roman border.

Socialism is still struggling to get off the ground, except in Colombia and Paraguay, but Socialist movements are buzzing just underneath the surface in many countries.

Whether the Holy Roman Empire will be able to get any allies, is a matter of concern for Vienna. The United States, very Anti-British and under a perpetual Police-state, could be persuaded to join with the HRE to reconquer the rebellious states, and to gain British North America. Although the Ottomans are in a very shaky, percarious position, and likely to collapse soon, their destructive could be held off by taking full ownership of Egypt and Tunisia (which Istanbul shares with Britain). Then again, although they like neither side much, the British are important trade partners, and the Holy Romans have kicked them out of much of the Balkans (Right now, a few British businessmen are exploring the potential for Oil in the Ottoman Empire). China, anxious to pay Britain and Russia back for injustices, but never as hurt as OTL, was able to industrialize (almost to the level that Japan did in OTL) and switch to a new dynasty in the 1880s. The Holy Romans could trade the indefensible territories in the East Indies to China, in exchange for Chinese support.

And then, as as a rebellious (but otherwise insignificant) French town is burnt to the ground by British troops, the government in Vienna announces that there is further proof of the subjugation of the French people (who as proud European Christians, would of course rather be under the rule of the Great Roman Empire, instead of those Protestant/Atheist/Jews in London) and that it is time to Liberate the world from the British empire....
