Description No, really, it is. Chucklewood Easter is an Easter special, so naturally...Easter's gonna be all over this special. Would be odd if it weren't

After their encounter with their rabbit friends Skipper and Bluebell leaves them confused over their odd behavior, the cubs hear a hammering sound in the woods. Buttons sees Ranger Jones, and so they rush up to greet him. Jonesy is in the midst of hammering another poster to a tree, but stops to say hello them, referring to them as his "favorite cubs in all of Chucklewood Park" (Well, then again, they're the only ones we've seen interacting with him to this point!)

Ranger Jones: "You had enough hibernation, Buttons?"
Buttons: "Yes, sir!"
Ranger Jones: "Well, you picked the right time to wake up-because the day after tomorrow, you're both invited to the Chucklewood Easter Picnic!"

Yes, the posters Jonesy has been putting up are to advertise a "Critters Easter Picnic" he's throwing on Easter Sunday in which all the critters in the park can come attend if they wish. Only thing is, as we see here, Buttons and Rusty are totally confused by this. They don't know what Easter is! (Par for the course for this franchise, but you think their parents might've told them about the picnic? Unless this is the first critters' picnic the Ranger is going...Y'know, I'm overthinking a cutesy children's special again, so let's just go with that ) The Ranger has to head off to put up more posters around the park for critters to see, but he offers to explain Easter to the boys if they come along with him in his jeep. So into the jeep they hop, and down the ol' dusty trail they go.

Jonesy explains that all around the world (well, really only in the Northern Hemisphere at that time of year; in the Southern Hemisphere summer is coming to an end), new life begins to sprout up all around us. Easter is a holiday meant to celebrate that new life, and the legendary icon who spreads the wonders of the holiday around to all the children of the world is a jovial fellow known as the Easter Bunny. The cubs are amazed, and want to know more about him! "Very few folks have actually seen him," explains the Ranger, but he "leaves presents for all the young'ins". Naturally, being little kids, the sound of presents is enticing to Buttons and Rusty! Jonesy adds that they could expect to find baskets full of such things as painted eggs and candy. The boys love the idea of Easter...as they seem to do with every new holiday they found out about so far. (Later on, though, Rusty isn't too hot on Valentine's Day...well, not at first, anyways ) They can't wait for the fun Easter will bring them, and the Ranger tells them at the picnic tomorrow they'll have a egg hunt and an egg decorating contest. The cubs' excitement is through the roof, they can hardly wait for tomorrow! But this is the end of the ride for the cubs-Ranger Jones has to go put up more posters. So he stops and lets them off, and bids them farewell. And so now Buttons and Rusty are up to date on another holiday

How many times do I have to say I really love the cubs' excitement over holidays they just learned about. It kind of reminds me of myself when I was a little boy! When you're very young and not too knowledgeable yet, the holidays can often seem so much more magical and wondrous, and we easily believe in the mystical figures that symbolize the holidays like Santa or the Easter Bunny. Then you grow up and find out...it's just your folks who are the ones who get the presents, for you, and those holiday icons don't actually exist. Growing up can be a real bummer sometimes as you discover the world around you isn't quite as magical as it may have seemed...Of course, this being a children's series, we know Buttons and Rusty don't have to worry about it because they do exist

So now the cubs know about Easter, and are excited for the Picnic. But they get the idea that perhaps they could have a little Easter fun a day early. And how they choose to go about that...is going to lead them to a whole mess of trouble. Let's just say that although they're good boys at heart, it's one of the naughtiest things Buttons and Rusty ever do!

Would what Buttons and RUsty are going to do be on par with something Freddy would do (I know he's not in the special.)

Well, Buttons and Rusty were planning on returning the eggs, but got so caught up in painting them and fetching flowers to use their colors for paint that they lost track of time and couldn't return them that day. Plus I don't think they expected all the new mothers in the Forest to flip their lids when they found out they each had 1 egg missing from their nests.

Freddy probably would've just willfully kept the eggs, or tried to eat them or something...Plus he wouldn't take the eggs because he wanted some to color and didn't understand where to get them, he probably would've taken them on purpose as a prank because it amused him. That would be...pretty par for the course for him
