Description
Another "Christmas Raccoons" screencap. Our furry heroes have discovered, much to their surprise, that the Evergreen Forest is rapidly disappearing. But little do they know they are about to be drawn into the mystery! While the three raccoons are safe and sound in the Raccoondominium, Cyril Sneer and his "college graduate son" (as he's described) Cedric are afoot in the Forest. Cyril is the one responsible for cutting down all the trees, and is quite gleeful at the prospect of destroying the entire Forest. Cedric protests, saying that they've already cut down enough and they're well over their limit, but the evil aardvark's greed is too strong to be swayed. He revs up his chainsaw and proceeds to fell an entire line of trees. Then, he kicks over another tree which causes another whole line of trees to topple...onto the Raccoondominium. It sways back and forth as all of our furry trio's possessions are shattered, and topples to the ground, throwing out Bert, Ralph, and Melissa. To make matters even worse, the tree then immediately rolls down a hill...and is quickly discovered by Tommy and Julie, who were out sledding with Schaeffer. They decide the Raccoondominium will make the perfect Christmas tree for their home, and take it with them...but not before being observed by the raccoon trio. Here, we see Bert, Melissa, and Ralph (good heavens does he ever look goofy!) as they are shocked to see their home being taken away. They're now homeless...whatever will they do?The Raccoons (C) Skywriter Media & Entertainment Group

The first time I seen this special, I felt really sorry for the gang losing their original home close to Christmas. That blackhearted brigand Cyril Sneer was truely a villain back in the days. Good screengrab, Captain.

Bert looks like he is about to deliver a eulogy or their poor former home, Melissa is just in general shock and poor Ralph looks like he's about to throw up. Poor things.

If anything, Bert would be more likely to eulogize the peanut butter lost when their house collapsed and ended up in the hands of the humans...No, wait, Bert hasn't yet developed his taste for peanut butter yet, never mind It was the next special where Bert first mentioned his love of peanut butter...am I right? (I can't remember off the top of my head; I'll have to watch "Raccoons On Ice" again soon...)
But yeah, you do feel sorry for our furry trio, but at least they will get a new home "Christmas Raccoons" is a nice special (if not all that spectacular, in my opinion), even if I admit I don't consider it canon with the actual series itself. I do wish the show would have done another Christmas episode during the actual series itself, though...

I always thought Bert loved peanut butter no matter what.
The thing with the show as I said before is that you have to take it with a pinch of salt, as the continuity of the show and specials were at times a nightmare.

I don't think Bert ever mentioned peanut butter in this special; do correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think it was until "Raccoons on Ice" where we first heard of his love for the snack. I know we first found out Cedric liked chocolate pudding in that special because, well..."Cedric, this is BIGGER than chocolate pudding!" How can I ever forget THAT moment?
You basically just explained the reason why I don't even bother trying to make the specials canon with my own stories; while I do try to make the series canon with my stories, that's not a huge challenge to do. The specials, while they're not awful by any means, are just so at odds with the series (for example, Bert, Ralph, and Melissa have never met or heard of Cyril Sneer and Cedric before in this special, but in the show they've known them both for their whole lives) that trying to fit them in with my stories would such a massive pain in the ass. So I felt it was better to just discard them for writing my stories. I would hope that wouldn't piss anyone off...

The series also had some terrible continuity issues don't forget, you might as well just set your stories in a different timeline all together.
As for Bert's obsession with PB, well since it was established it seems likely that he still loves the stuff in this first special, despite not mentioning it since he clearly loves it in everything else, so it's part of his character in a way.
