Welcome to Splatoon the unofficial comic. It's issue 8, the first and last issue. Read the summary to get caught up on all things fresh, and jump into the action with page one! "Target Secured" is an unofficial Splatoon comic written and illustrated by me, entirely in smooth vector graphics. It should be “The deady Octarian menace”, not Octoling menace. Octoling only refers to one subspecies, Octarian refers to the whole race overall.

Originally it was "Octarian Menace" actually, but I think for the purpose of this story, which only features Octolings, saying "Octarian" would throw the reader off. I wanted to keep it simple, thus Octolings are the only enemy species mentioned and shown. Thanks for the feedback though!

Why are there only Octolings? I mean, it’s fine to have only Octolings as major characters, but other Octarians are much, much more common.

Octarians are cool and all, but I wanted Octolings to be the focus as I felt they weren't elaborated upon in the campaign. There was a great sense of mystery and terror in them, like they mere shells of the Octarians, but deep down had some humanity (squidmanity?) left in them. I made the comic in Febuary, before we knew anything on the Octolings, and a month before it was announced there was going to be a full "Octo Expansion". That was pencils, at least. When digitally converting it, I added the bit about "Wanna know more? Play the Octo Expansion!" as a nice bookend to the game's official content. Fast forward to the Octo Expansion shedding new light on the lore, and now we're all swimming in Octolings...
Help! I'm drowning in tons of eight tentacles! (Anyways though, I always listen to feedback, so I just wanted to give some insight in to as why the comic was made. Thanks for reading this far down.)
