Raiden and Sage were very close at the start of Sage's training. Sage's father died before he knew him, and though Quail told young Sage stories of Silas, he still missed having a father figure. That was when Raiden stepped in-- he felt for his trainee, and Raiden helped him fill the gap.

Last night I realized that literally all of my scenes look the same, which is something I've been trying to avoid for months but that avoidance has caused it, so my solution, starting at midnight, was to do this. It's far from perfect, and I wish it could have been more detailed, but it's good enough and I'm fairly happy with it!

I've been thinking about my character's backstories a lot lately, ties in with the lore/history work I've done for the colonies as well. As well as realizing that all my my scenes looked the same, I realized I had never truly thought about Sage and Raiden's relationship, and the bond they had, so I knew I had to draw something. Potentially more to come!
