Those teddys are best with their lovely horns attatched to them . Sad to hear they are only pets.

They are just pets in our area, but further north they will be used for farming

Thanks

I think they are pets here too, I mean they are not used for any marketing purpose, but at the same time, they are working- grown freely on a field near water, a protected area, where they try to make a natural meadow, where the old kind of flowers would start t grow again. I know it sounds complicated, but I don't know how to explain it much better, sorry.

Wauw, I have never seen aimals like that They're gorgeous and so fluffly! But I bet they can be dangerous too. Is it cold there, that they have so much fur?

Pretty shot ! I like the contrasts, light and darker brown, the one looking at the camera, the other with his head down. Gorgeous ! ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gordonrae In reply to Junipersweet [2006-12-13 20:20:35 +0000 UTC]

There are a few about, not great big herds of them tho, yes they could be dangerous but they are usually very nice natured animals.
Its not cold in my area, most of them around here are kept as pets, because it is illegal now to keep cattle with horns on, you need a special licence to allow you to keep them, the reason being they are a traditional breed which has always had their horns on, so you are allowed an exemption for this.
I think they are cute, like giant teddies
Thanks for your comment on them

Pets? They won't be beef then? Good....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gordonrae In reply to AlicesPlace [2006-10-16 05:48:16 +0000 UTC]

The guy who owns these ones will be keeping them as pets.
You need special permission to keep these cattle, because of their horns, (the horns are an important part of the breed of the Highland cattle)
Cattle now must be de-horned as calves, both for the risk to humans and to the other cattle. Highlanders get a special dispensation, because it is a traditionional part of the breed (they look nothing without them)
So big pets they are

I'm glad they won't get eaten.
