Description oops!!!
Sorry for some missing info in the first posted tutorial I left out ISO Settings info.
It's all good ...now.

It has been suggested a few times by some people that I should make A Macro Water Drop Photography Tutorial.

So I set out to make one, it doubt it's the best one you'll find available as I am sure there are better tutorials out there somewhere.

Anyways here's my own tutorial of how I shoot my water drop macros. If you follow it your water drop photos might or will be better than mine.

Your photos will without a doubt blow mine away especially if you have a really good camera to work with. Also just so you know, for those of you that might not know already.
I don't use any real authentic macro lenses, my lenses are from Slide Projectors and Old T.V. News Cameras, so your photos might not turn out looking just like mine because of this or they turn out looking even better ...and they should too.

That's it you'll have more then enough reading to do when you follow the tutorial.
Enjoy and most importantly have fun okay.

Thank you (:
If I wanted to use a flash instead of an LED torch, what settings would be best?

I would suggest using these settings:

If shooting with a direct flash, try using an ISO setting of no lower than 200.
And a shutter speed of no lower than 1/60.
The maximum ISO setting shouldn't need to be any higher than 800.
And the highest shutter speed shouldn't need to exceed 1/160 to 1/200.

I don't know if you have a macro lens, but if you don't you can use alternative lens as I have or
you can purchase one like this: [link]

Or another option that is affordable and can do the job: [link]

For some macros or close-ups that are closer than the prime lens can achieve I use the Close-Up Macro Filters.

I hope this information helps and if have any further questions please don't hesitate.
I enjoy helping others.

Take Care!

how do you get your CDs cracked like that? I've scratched mine, but the cracks look awesome!

Thank you very much and thank you for your interest too.

Here's how:
Very carefully in the microwave, in a bowl of water, and for only 8 seconds, tops.
This will give you the same cracks as mine.
Whether you use a CD OR DVD the results are the same but the colours are quite different.
After a while though(like months later) the CD will split in-two an then you'll have
yourself another surface to use besides the cracked disc or discs.

Ahhh, very cool. I really like how it is a bit messy around the water drop
You show that you don't have to get a super expensive camera or equipment to shoot a good photo.
You just have to be creative and just try things out.

goRillA-iNK In reply to monniii [2012-04-30 16:24:01 +0000 UTC]

LOL!!!
Yes it is and does get pretty messy at times.
I just keep going and going, water spills and glitter scatters everywhere.
But I just keep going and just as the mess has gotten as big as I can stand to handle,
and I'm about to stop shooting, that's when the perfect shot just gets captured.

Yes it really is just being creative with your lighting, your camera angles, and your supplies too.
Thank you very much.

Wow! I always wondered how in the world you managed to get all those lights in! XD
Well, that looks very interesting! I am not such a huge fan of photography, but I certainly like seeing it
