Description
More Emperors! I had to redo Diocletian. He became much more interesting after he got settled in!From Diocletian to Constantine the Great.

Nice work in portraying Daza, he was an angry, drunk, overindulgent little man.
LOL at Valens and Martinian

Asking if you are. I'm just a TV storyboard guy who has a passing interest in the Romans

No I'm not a student of Roman History. However, history reading is a sort of obsession with me, I am always reading about history, ancient, medieval,Β WWII, etc. The Roman Empire period is my favorite.

Ah fun! Yeah, it was never really a big thing for me until we got a hold of "FVLMINATA", a Roman Empire set RPG. It's got an alternate history that breaks off of ours a few years after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. For GMing purposes I needed to read up on what was different and what I could use from real history and I got hooked! (I'd taken a Roman History class in College but the teacher made it dead boring).Β
I even did a comic set in Rome on my webcomic site. "House of Paulus" about an equestrian who decides to marry. Had a lot of fun researching that one!Β

A shame that the teacher ruined it. Do some side reading on your own, Roman History set the base for the world we live in today, very interesting read IMHO.

I have been! (this sketch series is a case in point...) but what interests me most are the nitty gritty details you don't hear about in the sweeping generalizations of history books. I like watching movies set in or about Rome, but they're 90% Caesar and 10% Caligula. You'd think there weren't anymore Wacko emperors than them and no non-Emperors who were interesting!

I agree, most of the emperors were cruel, or just plain out of their minds. I would like to see movies on Constantine, Diocletian, Pertinax, Elagabalus, etc. The movie Gladiator was during the reign of Commodus, but it was far from historically accurate (which I need in my historical movies!)
Actually, I have been watching HBO's Rome, and they have been keeping it almost completely historically accurate. It is by far my favorite Rome oriented entertainment. I think they should do a prequel of this show, following the terrible and gruesome reign of Sulla.

I started watching Rome, but it was yet another Julius Caesar story wasn't it? Β Though I did enjoy the day-to-day stuff in it that was pretty cool.
