Description
This Pzkpfw-IV Ausf-D belongs to the 7th Panzer Division under the command of Erwin Rommel, France 1940. The 7th Panzer Division’s tanks displayed unusually large tactical numbers on their turrets, as seen here, that were typically in red outlined in white, but in this example yellow outlined in white. The vehicle’s divisional symbol, an inverted yellow ‘Y’ with three dots to its right, has been stenciled adjacent to the driver’s visor and superstructure rear. Although covered in a thin coat of dirt and grime, the vehicle possesses a typical early war two tone camouflage pattern with a base coat of dark gray (dunkelgrau Nr.46) over which large dark brown (dunkelbraun Nr. 45) blobs have been painted.
