This Pzkpfw-IV Ausf-F belongs to the elite Panzer Grenadier Division “Grossdeutschland” in July 1942. The tactical markings are atypical having the units platoon number depicted by vertical lines ( here three vertical lines in yellow or white denoting the 3rd platoon) and the individual tank number stenciled in large single digit numerals. This unique symbol layout was only used for the first tank company which consisted three platoons of Panzer-IVs. Other markings include the divisional symbol stenciled on the left front and left rear mud guard flaps. The vehicle’s color scheme consists of a base coat of dark gray (RAL 7027) with an over spray of diluted dark yellow (RAL 7028) bands. A few unusual modifications have been made to the tank which include a rack for carrying Jerry cans on the left superstructure side, along with a single spare road wheel, and a spare track link mounted on the front center superstructure.
