Description
A vast experiment of different approaches and many different pencils and pens and markers.I sold my last Captain Jack so I thought it was time to revisit one of favorite topics to draw or paint.

This is really nice and dramatic
I like head on , almost confrontational portraits
and the subtle colours really work

AS do I my friend. It was a great opportunity to play with an additional color on my toned paper work.

iSorry my friend I am not here much these days. Been some busy times. Have picked up some nice stuff. Petty: The classic Pin-Up Art of George Petty. The first volume of The Frazetta Sketchbook. A nice book on Gil Elvgren. Brian Froud Good Faeries, Bad Faeries. I believe there has been a couple of others but that is all I can recall at the moment. I really want to purchase the Rough Work of Frank Frazetta. Do you have that one?
Hope all is well with you.

Hi
Great to hear from you
I'm doing lots of commissions these days , that keep me busy
luckily the people asking for the stuff , share the same interests as me
Mostly classic horror and Ray Harryhausen
At the ,moment i'm sort of in a Basil Gogos phase
i bought that Brian Froud Good faeries book a little while ago
he has a nice style , especially with water colours
Which Gil Elvgren book did you get ? theres a massive one published by taschen that's nice
i do have frazettas rough works
Its a smallish padded cover book , but has some nice little paintings
interesting seeing his earliest ideas
The death dealer on horse had a skull for a face at one point
I'm very well
i tore tendons in my knee a month before christmas and it 's only just healed
the pain was no fun at all
Are you painting anything at the moment?

Lol you were not kidding about that basil gogos comment. I could not compliment you enough on those. Just brilliant my friend! That Karloff Son of Frankenstien is amazing! And I do not recall seeing that reference before. I have been looking for a decent shot as I love the that big wool vest lol.
That is indeed the Elvgren Book. I grabbed their monster book on pin up art from a remainders sale at Chapters years back. you have any books on Vargas that you would recommend?
I caught a little view on that Rough Works book on YouTube. I went to Comic Con and picked up that Sketch book and got that Frazetta Fire going again and been pouring over all my books again lol.
If I may ask what are your commission prices?
Sorry to hear about that knee. That is a long healing process.

Hi
I do have a Vargas book , it's a large format , i'll have to check it out for you and find out who publishes it
Commission wise it depends on the subject matter and the technique involved { e.g. paints on canvas or just an ink drawing }
but the paintings tend to be around £60 if it's just a simple portrait
i work fast and sell cheap!
Frazetta is still my all time favorite artist , nearly every painting he created was a classic
My knee must have been damaged more than i realized at the time
i was just picking up a pile of stuff { books funny enough!} and went from a crouch to standing and felt an horrific pain in my knee
it swelled up more like a grapefruit than a knee
I'm glad it healed , i thought it was the onset of chronic arthritis or i'd damaged the cartilage or something
