Great drawing. I’m with you. They just don’t make enough pirate movies and westerns for my taste. That was a previous time.

My wife and I were discussing the fate of the westerns a few nights ago.Β  I wonder why there is such a decline in them?Β  We need a new squitty Clint Eastwood type actor to take up the charge

I think the biggest problem is that a good western usually requires a good story. To tell a good story you usually need to go at a slower pace and the short attentioned viewer of today prefers something quicker. Just my humble opinion.

Humble but I think indeed correct!

I love the "moments from the movie" works. I am usually too lazy to do them ,as I usually don't do backgrounds.Β
I think I have only done two." Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"Β  and "Gunfight at the OK corral"Β
Two westerns.Β

I am with you.Β  I am a sketch when the moment takes me kind of guy!Β  And lol get bored with my subject quickly so I tend not to take much time on anything.Β  Usually six hours for a painting or 2 hours for the black and white sketches.Β  So backgrounds are never really part of the plan.Β Β

I don't think I ever timed myself working. Also, I can't remember ever completing anything in one sitting !
I'm not really as slow as that seems, I just do a little bit when I get the chance.
The large western watercolours I mentioned must have taken perhaps a week...but done in shifts !!!

Generally always in one sitting for me if it can be done.Β  I go with the excitement.Β  But yep we artists always get interrupted and sometimes multiple shifts are needed
