Description Okay, so some people might wonder why I made Dinobot's beast mode entirely robotic. Two reasons; One being that I'm more capable of envisioning the transformation sequence when I can see every piece, and because my version of Beast Wars would be a bit different from the series. They'd start out with completely technological forms that can project holographic "skin" over their mechanical parts to mimic the animal they've taken the form of.

So, Dinobot is a standard Deinonychus, or if you want to call him a velociraptor for nostalgia purposes, feel free. His tail "fan" becomes a variation on the sword he had in the show. Edits and updates will be made to this often to match the subtle changes I made for his robot mode.

Wow this is great. Love the tail, although the eyes freak me out a little. But maybe that was intentional. XD

Who's side is he on this time?

Allegiance, eh? Well, if there were a complete mix-up and I ended up directing... *dream-like harp strums*

...It'd probably be the same. I couldn't see Dinobot as a Predacon all the way through the movie. Personally, I'd focus the first half of the movie on the turmoil on Cybertron before they were stranded on Earth, and we'd probably see that Dinobot has problems with Megatron's leadership skills even before they get to Earth, which culminate into his famous betrayal of the Predacons that we're so familiar with in the first episode of the series. It'd be hinted at very early on that, while Dinobot has a lot of Predacon gusto flowing through his circuits, he's very impressed by the Maximals and their determination and competence.

Indeed. I just can't get over the fact that they killed him. Sure, he died a hero's death and all that. But I think we all agree that we prefer him alive.

TM2 Dinobot just killed his memory.

I think he had a pretty good run, considering Terrorsaur and Scorpinok only lasted a single season, and only died to make way for Inferno and Quickstrike.

Indeed, but Dinobot actually had some character development, while Terrorsaur and Scorpinok mostly stayed the same. I'll admit that characters don't always HAVE to go through life-altering experiences, but why put Dinobot through all THAT and then just kill him?

And keep in mind that, in the final episode, Dinobot 2 regained his memories and saved Optimal Optimus from Megatron as a final act of heroism.

Why would Dinobot need a reason to live on? Well, it's true that he had a good death. Possibly the best death in the show. Tigerhawk's was actually quite pointless, but then again. So was his revival. XD (Being a fusion between a male and a female, I never understood why that guy didn't have an identity crisis).

As for Dinobot2 gaining Dinobot's memories. I think he didn't really gain ALL of his memories, I think he just saw flashes. And when Rampage died (which for some reason made Dinobot2's spark complete) Dinobot2 started displaying some characteristic Dinobot personality traits. Like the whole honor trip. I guess being under Rampage's influence had surpressed that.
Dinobot2 didn't save the Maximals because he was feeling heroic (like the original Dinobot) or because he felt some affection towards them. He just didn't agree with Megatron's idea to whipe them all out the quick and easy way.

I always thought it was weird that Dinobot2 even recovered (some of) Dinobot's memories at all. I mean, he didn't have the original Dinobot's spark, nor had he downloaded Dinobot's backup memories from the Maximal ship's computer.
So how on Earth was he supposed to regain those memories at all? Despite his name and his appearance, Dinobot2 was NOT Dinobot. Never was.

I think the show's creators missed an opportunity with Dinobot2. He could have been the key to Dinobot's revival. I'm not saying he would have gotten DB's spark nessecarily (but it would have been ideal), but he could have gotten DB's memory backup from the Maximal ship. I mean, the creators went through a lot of air time, just to explain that Dinobot backed up his memories on the computer, right before he went to die his heroic death. And then nothing gets done with this backup! It just sits there and sinks with the ship! Missed opportunity I say!

But don't mind me. I'm just ranting.

Keep in mind that the real reason he was killed off in the show was to bring him back as the Dinobot 2 toy...

Honestly, all things considered, I think that his death was handled extremely well. I really didn't see any reason for him to die, but I didn't see any reason for him to continue on, either. He had changed immensely since he and Primal first met, and in his confusion with the trials of the golden disk, he found that the only way to redeem himself to the Maximals for his betrayal (in his mind) was to sacrifice himself in order to save the early humans and time itself from Megatron's wrath. He got the best death that any character could have hoped for.

This is made of win, sir. I agree with , he looks very functional and realistic, and I like what you did with his tail.

Yeah, I decided to keep the idea from the show, where his tail becomes a sword. Half of it flips out and the hovering blades turn over to make an edge. I might actually edit this so half of his tail can become his arms or his spine.

Bad ass line art, very very original idea and thats refreshing.
I would love to see it colored but at the same time if it's not broken don't fix it.
I really like this and I dont know where to start, everything looks realistically functional.
GREAT JOB!

Thanks!

Yeah, functionality was a priority, and the hardest part is invisioning how he'd transform.
