I do not know if you are aware of this or not but, the Mig 15 was equipted with an emergency escape device?
Just under the tail fin was a 200 Liter metal bottel of compressed water. In the event that the pilot could not evade a pursuit fighter, he could use the water to create a Steam Ram Jet to escape.

This was useful as the early models did not come with ejection seats and, the pilot had to turn the aircraft upside down in order to Fall Out.

I used ta diss the looks of 50s jets, since they looked like little more than a flying engine, with the wings and cockpit added as an afterthought, showing none of the raw animal appeal of WW2 planes, or sleek organic lines of later jets. But the minimalist design of these planes have slowly grown on me, and now I love their looks. Gorgeous piccie!

Thanks. Have to admit I used to think the same as you, but the old 50's jets have a way of growing on you.

I never tire of your use of colour. Bold, bright but used with control

I always liked how the older MiG's looked so graceful at certain angles.

Them Ruskies sure know how to build fighters...

Unlike Yankees they don't have to know , but they MUST know how to build good fighters . They have largest airspace and very hostile climates after all .

WOAH!! That is a striking image! Your lighting meshes perfectly with the environment, and man, is it dramatic! Love the hot rim on the lower fuselage, it really defines the form beautifully.

What Vklee said ....

2 cents: Might need a little blur to suggest more motion, but the colours and sweeping angle is still great!

Thanks Agree a little bit of blur would help - I just suck at getting it right

How about bluring the "highlights" (okay, i don't know the term but the areas where the suns hitting the metal ) on the bottom edge of the tanks and fuselage?

To me it seems a good place for a little bluring
