I'm not sure. I don't use air dry clay so I don't have any experience with it.

This tutorial is awesome!
Also Grandma, I was wondering! Since you're the pro with Polymer Clay I am gonna ask you!
I only have white Polymer Clay at the moment. Is it possible to color the clay before cooking it with something? Be it mixing it with something or using a marker?
~Thanks~

Hello! I've heard of people using chalk pastels to color the clay. You can also paint it after it's been baked.

I'm curious, how long do we bake these? I once made a cookie and tried to bake it, ended up almost having a fire and destroyed a mini oven D=

GrandmaThunderpants In reply to JeanaWei [2012-07-02 00:27:44 +0000 UTC]
I would say about 25-30 mins. If you're worried about burning them then you can check on them every 5 mins or so. O: If it burned that bad, you might have had the temperature way too high? Make sure to follow the instructions on the package.

It's just liquid clay, so yes! :3 You must bake it, or it'll just be goo.

:] I'm making my first set into earrings XD Just got done making German Chocolate cake and baked the first pair for testing ^^ How long does it take for glaze to dry?
π: 0 β©: 1
GrandmaThunderpants In reply to Ravenwolf89 [2011-11-27 03:31:42 +0000 UTC]
Ooh, yay!
That depends on the glaze. :3 I would just read the bottle to see.

Ravenwolf89 In reply to GrandmaThunderpants [2011-11-27 05:22:58 +0000 UTC]
All the bottle says is "let air dry" lol. And it's gloss glaze Sculpey brand... the shiny kind not the matte XD I've made one set of earrings and am working on baking 3 more right now The first set turned out really good ^^ but I didnt get the parts for the earrings today when I got the other stuff so I'm gonna have to go back to the store to get the parts to make them earrings XD But yeah.... lol. I'm gonna take pics when the weather is a bit nicer because my living room light is burnt out and I dont have any more light bulbs and my camera sucks in the lighting for the rest of the house.. lol.
Also... where can I find hypoallergenic earring things? They have things at Michaels but it didnt say on the package if they were hypoallergenic or not x.x I was thinking maybe at Hobby Lobby? idk. lol
π: 0 β©: 1
GrandmaThunderpants In reply to Ravenwolf89 [2011-11-27 05:41:11 +0000 UTC]
It should dry in an hour or so, maybe less. I don't know for sure, just poke it and see. xD
You can find them at Michael's but they'll be labeled hypoallergenic, also Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby, or many places online.

how do you cut the cake without smearing the colours? I've been having trouble with that lately
π: 0 β©: 1
GrandmaThunderpants In reply to TeamPeetaForeva [2011-11-11 02:35:40 +0000 UTC]
That shouldn't happen unless your clay is reeeally soft or your knife is very dull. Use a razor blade to cut the cake next time, and if that doesn't help then try popping the cake in the freezer for 3-5 minutes, and then cut. O: Let me know if that helps you!

rite now im a bit broke, and trying to make some money by making clay charms...
only downside
i dont have much money for sculpey... waay to expensive.
do u have any recomendations for similar type of clay?
π: 0 β©: 1
GrandmaThunderpants In reply to FireGemini [2011-10-18 21:32:20 +0000 UTC]
I've never used a similar kind of clay, sorry. Polymer clay often goes on sale at Michael's Arts and Crafts so keep an eye on fliers. :3
