Those creatures are some "home-brewed" undead that I created purposely for this project and are heavily inspired by Tolkien's Barrow-wights. In the D&D universe, I guess wights would be the closest match.

That's the best. One of the problems I had playing DnD was that everybody knew the monsters, so we brought all this meta-knowledge to the encounters. My first game ended with my character dying quickly (druid in a dungeon at 1st level = bad choice), but the thrill of discover was high.

It gets even worse when the players know the spec of the monster even better than the DM. Yeah, there's nothing like the sheer fun you get the first time you meet a monster you don't know anything about!
