I made this character to be a part of the #Windsonde group. Check it out to see more awesome gryphons!Aery Name: Twistoult
Character Name: Kitra
Character Species Combination: Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) / Melanistic Amur Leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis)
Rank: Young Gryphon
Gender: Female
Character Personality: She does not think she is brave or even terribly clever, although she is. Spiritual and introspective, Kitra is very unhappy that she was born with feline front paws instead of more dextrous bird claws. She longs to be agile and handy, but she is clumsy. More than anything, she just wants to be helpful, but often she is just a klutzy bundle of fur, feathers and trouble! She hates to be a nuisance but just can't help it sometimes. Kitra longs to create pretty and useful objects with her paws and sadly envies those who can more freely express their artistic vision. She dreams of someday being graceful, brave, wise and dextrous. For now, she is young and full of longing and a little silliness.
Facepalm moment:
Oh dear, now that I've finished this it looks like she's going to look a lot like the most recently submitted Twistoult character. Right down to it being a female character ending with an -ra name! Gah! Different species altogether, but a similar look. At least Kitra is darker-bodied. le fail! lol. Admins, let me know if I need to revamp this. For now I can promise that the similarities stop with the look!
Edit: Kitra will be good friends with that gryphon and they will have a great time together! All is well! The gryphon belongs to and is named Indira. Indira's owner and I had a chat and our similar-looking gryphons will get along swimmingly. Indira:

Oh she's loooovely! Poor dear though, being so clumbsy. Hopefully she'll grow out of it... love her personality by the way, she sounds like she'll be awesome to follow through the challenges! Can't wait to see them!
(And I know everyone else has said this, but no worries about characters being similar, that kind of thing is bound to happen now and again. Besides, they don't look all that similar anyway, save for having a desaturated color scheme and being, well... gryphons XD)

I don't think you have to worry too much about similar appearances. Considering how nature really is, if you really think about it there aught to be more look-alikes around.
However, there are definitely enough differences between the characters that I can't see it being a problem. Great minds think alike, don't they?
Perhaps you should plot with Indira's creator and do some pics of them together for your challenges? Would be interesting to see!

I don't think Kitra and Indira look the same, we just used similar species. Definitely nothing wrong with that.

There's no reason for me to get butthurt because our gryphons look similar. The first thing I thought when I saw her was "Oh hey, Osprey buddies!" but that was really all I saw. Then it turned out I got the wrong species. XD Funnily enough I had considered making her a snow leopard, but the cheetah patterns won me over.
Haha, I was already planning on using her in one of my challenges. I think they would be good friends, it would be fun to draw them together!

She is gorgeous <3 Love the gossies, and amur leopards. Me thinks if I get around to it, and if Yarak [my Srekrill griff I have to finish a ref for, NGos/CanadaLynx]were to ever lay eyes on her, he would be lovestruck [and probably less wild].

Sweet. Yes, I think it is nice when the two species overlap a bit. I tried to do that, too. It sorta worked, at least their range makes it somewhat possible, but their quarries are probably rather different in my case, most of the time. I could see an Amur leopard going for goshawk prey in the dead of winter or something, though. Fun stuff, art at work...
