Description
'Ello 'ello. So this is a bit different. A short while ago (exactly a week, actually), I made a status post where I showed some sketches of a fusion between two of my characters:
"For some reason I felt like drawing a fusion of my 2 fox characters, Avatar Guy & Ursula. So sketched up some doodles of the idea I had. I think... she? they? I think they're kinda cute in an ooh-this-is-an-intriguing-concept sort of way. (Also I like the hair)"
I liked the concept and started thinking of a storyline where at one point in their interdimensional travels (more on that in the description of the last pic I did of them both ), they get fused into one being and have to find a way to undo it, while also having to recover the gadget that lets them return home after it was stolen. And on the way, they get into adventures, and it all gives them a new perspective on life, etc, etc.
But with this pic, I tried to actually draw someone who's biologically between male and female. I know they just mainly look like a girl, hehe, but Avatar Guy isn't very masculine anyway so it does make some sense. They mainly look like a girl with a tomboyish figure - several times during the drawing process I slightly broadened the shoulders and waist, and slightly de-emphasised the hips, although those maybe still came out a little curvy. And as for the prominent crotch fluff - I've never drawn a nude full-body pic of a male anthro character with fur before (I've done some upper-body pics, and Moss presumably hiding something under his hoodie), so yes, the tuft is supposed to represent there being something... there. Maybe in an alternate universe I would have drawn a sheath and everything, but... *cough* suffice to say we're not in that universe. Hmm... I guess technically that also means that this character is a herm... never thought I'd draw one of those...
But I also wanted to try more texture experimentation like with the Nubless pic. And I think it actually turned out a lot better in that regard. I actually put the custom textured brush ON the Mixer Brush, so when I did the shading it actually produced a decent painterly effect. I also made this drawing all moody and desaturated, representing this character's feeling of loneliness and vulnerability - they don't have a shoulder to lean on any more since they've been combined into one body, and they feel different... and alien... because of their weird biology. And in the storyline, they're lost and alone in an alien universe...
Here's a WIP that I posted on Twitter. There are a lot of extra little doodles on the side too.

There, text revised. (I slightly adjusted the lighting in the image too.) The interview seemed to go well as well, but I have to wait a week to receive a decision.
And I know this is unlikely, but I still want to cover for it: A POX ON HE WHO UPLOADS THIS TO E621 WHERE THEY WILL JUST TAG IT AS FEMALE AND I - AS THE ARTIST - AM SOMEHOW WRONG.

It's kinda bizarre, but well-drawn. Nice job on the feet. The pads and claws look good.

Come to think of it, you can't really call him Avatar Guy anymore, can you? YOU'RE your avatar now! Or at least your scalesona is (is that the proper term for it?)

Fursona, scalesona, sona, avatar, take your pick.
But yeah, I have been thinking about giving him a name for real. It's gonna feel really weird if I do give this now nearly 7-year-old character a name at long last.

Woah! It's been a whole year since you last drew them together. Well... "together" in a bit of a different manner xD

Also I gotta say that it's pretty ironic that despite being permanently together with another person in the most intimate way possible, they come off as more lonely than before. I mean it makes sense but that's interesting storytelling when you put it like that.
Hope to see more of these two in the future though!

Yeah. That's kind of why I found it as fascinating as I did. They're still essentially working together to overcome their trial since their memories and personalities are now combined, but at the same time they're having to go solo... wow, imagine how weird that would be...
(But yeah, I probably should actually draw these two together without any gender-bending or whatever since they're such an inseparable pair.)
