Description I just watched and loved a good sequel to a good movie, I loved the main villains, and thus this guy was born. Simple as that. Honestly, this guy was a ton of fun to take... until I got to the voice actor part and I got frustrated real quick. Why is it so easy for me to write pretty much everything else about a character - including a fairly long backstory, but I struggle hard to just give you an idea of what they would sound like?!!

[ATTITUDE]
Personality: Whether he's the Lord of the Harpies or a simple college professor, Askook is a genuinely considerate individual. One will always hear the truth from him - just as long as it's about other people and not himself.  He's also very respectful to others and wants everyone to feel important. When it comes to his job, Askook is very passionate about it. He tells his lessons in a way his students will remember them and does whatever he can to get the best out of them. He would even stay many hours after the class is over to make sure that his student understands his work and passes with flying colors. Pretty much everyone sees him as a caring man, but despite all of these great attributes he openly displayed, it is mostly an act. Mostly. Askook is incredible at taking all of those positive traits - as well as his status in the community - and using them to his advantage. He can get anyone to do whatever he wants with just a few kind words and a large stack of cash. When it comes to his feelings towards humanity, he may have a couple of close acquaintances and a circle of friends, he firmly believes that humans are a plague on the planet that need to be wiped off the earth and erased from history. In conclusion, Askook is a depowered piece of ancient history who wants nothing more than to see humanity suffer, but in the meantime, he will cater to them so that they will do the same in return.

Weaknesses: Mild anger issues, easily annoyed, moderately resentful

Habits: Quietly growling and glaring when annoyed, caressing his pet

[RELATIONSHIPS]
Acquaintances: His citizens (all deceased), his students and coworkers
Friends: Austin Copper, Erin Foster, Maxwell Ryder
Best Friend/Pet: Syara (lovebird)
Main Rival: All of humanity

[BACKSTORY]
Long before the world was inhabited by humans, the harpies ruled over the land. Although they were similar in appearance, there were many subspecies of the harpy. The wave harpies had more aquatic attributes and inhabited the waters. The cave harpies had more bat-like attributes and dominated the caves. There were even sky harpies with more bird-like attributes who ruled over the skies. However, there was one who ruled over them all. The scaled harpy, the strongest of the bunch, is more commonly referred to as Lord Askook. He was beloved by his citizens for his honesty and fairness to his citizens and even his ruthlessness toward those who dared to hurt them. When the first human civilizations began to form, Askook fought to endure so that both humans and harpies could live in balance. Unfortunately, over time, he began to see that harmony between the two species was impossible.

The humans saw the harpies as dangerous and the harpies saw the humans as inferior to them, driving them away from their homes and forcing them into a nomadic lifestyle across the world. Seeking vengeance against this injustice, the humans plotted to overthrow the harpies. The harpies, meanwhile, plotted to destroy the humans before they had their chance to attack. A great war broke out between the two species and Lord Askook was trapped in the middle of it. Despite his best efforts to quell both sides, it was all in vain and unfortunately for the harpies, their enemy had a trick up their sleeves. A powerful staff that was on an even power level with Askook. In the end, both sides suffered substantial causalities to where only a few humans and the Lord remained. Askook pleased one last time to spare his life and make peace, but the humans used the staff to strip him of his unworldly powers and transformed him into a human. Ashamed of seeing his kind eliminated and himself brought down to his enemy's level, Askook imprisoned himself in an underground tomb for many years.

The only times Askook would come out to see the world was for food and out of curiosity. He was stunned to see the progress humanity had made throughout the years. However, he was also taken aback by how violent it was towards itself, witnessing many of its horrible conflicts. In fact, he was disgusted to see such a species dominate the world after killing his entire race. Right up until the twentieth century, Askook hid in plain sight, learning and eventually adapting to the human way of life while learning all that had taken place ever since he imprisoned himself. By the time the twenty-first century came around, Askook was now a civilized member of modern society under the name Ashton Darnell. He fought to get all of his education and years later, he became a respectable college professor. He got a nice house, a nice car, and a close circle of friends - one would suggest that he was living a decent life. But as they sat, all that glitters is not gold. All of his accomplishments and respect in the community were nothing more than a front, a cover-up for his true intentions. Ashton had secretly paid a few archeologists to uncover the staff that stripped him of his powers so that one day, he may be restored back to his true self and make humanity pay for all of its crimes.

[EXTRA]
The initial inspiration came from Minions: the Rise of Gru in which (spoiler alert) the main villains transformed themselves into powerful beasts.
Further design elements came from Noivern, Rayquaza, Sonata Dusk, the Quetzalcoatl of Aztec mythology, and the harpies of Greek Mythology.
Askook is of Native American origin meaning "snake" and symbolizes a boy with excellent strength.
His human surname Darnell is of Olde English origin meaning "the hidden spot".
Voice Actor: Christopher Wehkamp (English dub voice of Miles Edgeworth in the Ace Attorney anime)
He obtained Syara after seeing it not taken care of in the pet shop and she is considered the only one Askook connects with.
I think the rings on the wings were a bit much, but I'm not redoing this, so I'm just going to embrace them and call this guy "Froot Loops" from now on.
