Description
Yes... the title does not lie. This drawing is finally complete! xDAlthough ive not been working on it consistantly it has still taken me around a week or two to completely finish this drawing and i cant even express how happy i am with it xD
I mean i am SO fricking happy with this xD It was Β real challenge but i think it went really well and id love to know what you all think of this
Ive always loved those drawings/images where the have 'random' colours in the characters hair/chlothes so i was so happy to be able to try that out in this drawing xD
Also ive now set up my Art Facebook page where i intend to upload my references so you can see/have the option to see what i will be drawing

thing i need help with most is how to draw digital art and how to improve on OC's/being able to draw without a reference (i suppose the best way to do this would be to familiarize myself with how to draw different styles of hair eyes clothes etc but im not sure exactly how id go about learning that

I'm surprised the improvement that you had this months, I have to say your coloring it's good, very good. you have an excellent technique. The anatomy is the problem here, but obviously no one can make a excellent draw at the first time. You have to be careful with the body's proportion, and hands, foots, eyes, and more. I always said, in a anime girl, the most important parts are hair, eyes and hands, (boobs sometimes).. but, this three parts are the perfect combination for a good draw. You have to keep drawing and seeing another works and more illustrations by great artists. All the improves are in the practice. Keep the good work. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

The picture is overall good, with some flaw here and there, but nothing that can't be improved with daily practice. First of all, let me tell you that the shading is great... obviously is not exactly the same that the reference, but you achieved a nice effect. The problem is in the linearity... Don get me wrong, is good, but the lines are kinda shaky... also one of the hands is way too small and it looks weird. And finally there's the angle of the head that does not seem to natural.
ANYWAYS, this doesn't mean that the picture isn't good, and you can improve with some practice!
Some tips! I see that spiral in your sketchbook!! If that thing makes your wrist and or hand feel weird, you can always take a sheet off the sketchbook and save your drawing on a folder. This allows your wrist to freely move and make the most of that pivot point to make smooth lines. You can also mess with the position of your paper... some people find it easier to replicate an image upside down.
Practice with hand references! The hands size has direct correlation with age, body size and head!!! Also, sometimes you draw hands in weirder angles than in this picture, so if you need to, you can use your own hand as reference!!
Finally!!! Lots of practice and never give up!!! You have potential!! Plant that seed and make it grow!! With care, a beautiful flower will blossom!!
That all!! Keep up the good work

Thanks
i appreciate the feedback and effort you put In to writing this critique
id like to think that my line art has improved a lot since this drawing (this drawing itself is about 3 months or so old and ive only been drawing for 5-6 months in total as it is xD
if you say my more recent work some of the points made here may have already been addressed
I was still very much in the experimental stage whilst drawing this and actually attempted to colour one the hands using a media that was not colouring pencils hence the difference in skin tone (in all honesty until about 3 weeks ago I couldn't colour skin tone at all and that's shown in this drawing) however with that said I still feel it's my best
the only real contender is my Takigawa Yoshino drawing or my 'Impossible Touka' WIPs which is my current project, the reference below should make it obviouse as to why I name it 'impossible Touka' xD

Only 6 months?? Holy cat I already want to see your future artwork.
Yeah, skin tones are annoying to get at first xD specially when you have to mix some colors to get it right

Okay NOW I'll do a critique:
So I think that overall, it's a really good draw. However, in comparison to the ref photo, the head looks like the angle at which it's lowered is a little...I dunno, too sharp. Also, the bottoms of her legs look a little too dark, and just a bit...strange. I don't mean to be insulting, just...those are like leggings, right? They kind of look like her legs are actually that color. It's just a little strange, even though I realize that's probably the desirable affect. The creases in the jacket and the shorts are AMAZING though--it looks exactly like real cloth!! You captured the hair's movement and her thoughtful look perfectly. Just one more point: I think the left hand is a little bit...off. I know, hands and fingers are really hard to get right, but I think the fingers are slightly off. Overall, the shading, everything, is absolutely AMAZING!!! Really nice draw, I love it.
Sorry, I can get harsh sometimes, hope it wasn't too much.

Greg1195 In reply to VayneDarkni [2014-11-30 19:01:36 +0000 UTC]
Honestly im so very grateful xD its my second ever critique that ive received and ill say what i said to the person who wrote my first one.
I am more than happy to see harsh yet truthful facts in regards to my drawing because then i know exactly where to improve, id learn nothing it i got full marks and was simply told it was just perfect or simply amazing and nothing else xD
to be honest i want you to be as harsh as you need to be.
im self taught and have no-one IRL to teach, guide and help me with my work so its crucially important for me to listen and learn from the comments of the users, be they my watchers or people who hate my work, you are all my Sensei's i need your harsh comments more than you know xD
But yeah i agree with you, i messed up the hands and got the colouring wrong on one of them because i tried out a new form of media which smudged/counteracted with my fine liner/line art therefore i had to stop that
Im very grateful for everything positive you had to say, there was quite alot of it xD, and i hope that my future works will impress and please you just as much

i always like to here peoples thoughts on this drawing asit was my fuirst ever 'successful' drawing, i had some decent ones before this but this was my first one that was to a good standard.
the feedback i usually get from this is about the hands/face (anatomical errors ect xD) but id only been drawing 2-3 months when i finished this drawing so im still very proud of it and will always be on eof my favourites xD

I just need to get my drawing perfect and then i can focus more on improving my colouring, maybe i should draw some already completed line arts or manga pages etc?
Either way thanks for taking the time to give the feedback, i look forward to your work as always and was actually rather upset to see youve not got prints enabled ;-;

That sounds good! I should be coming with a tutorial sometime too, so hopefully that will help you on your practice. Nailing the lineart/drawing part will be possible after you've drawn alot. A thing I did a while back was measuring for example how long/wide the hand, head etc of a refrence was, just to help myself get it right. After I'd drawn alot of them, I just got used to it. And thanks for thinking about bying a print. However, I'm not serious about my drawings. I'm still trying out different stuff and practising, so I would never sell any of the drawings I've done so far. I mean, I don't add backgrounds much and I do tend to rush my drawings quite often :-p However, I believe I can reveal to you that the next one is going to be a bit different. I must thank you for the constant support as well. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Greg1195 In reply to Pademo [2014-12-01 21:54:45 +0000 UTC]
i look forward to it!
i certainly hope so, i mean i can only get better with practice so all i can do is keep working on and try out new techniques to help me learn (like measuring the body parts :3)
Not a problem man! i mean believe what you will but you are a HUGE inspiration to me dude, you are the sole reason i decided to implement colour to my drawings! :')
So really i owe my latest success to you as i would still be shading if not for your work
So you say but one day i hope to be able to change your mind about that
Besides id love to own one of your original pieces when you make it big! xD (should you decide to pursue art that is
)
How exciting! Ive just bought a Β£90 Tablet in the hope of learning how to make digital art xD and yes... ive just spent Β£90 on a tablet i dont yet know how to use...
i shall provide feedback and support for as long as you draw and upload good sir! ;DΒ
