Description in march of 2006 I created an image called 'spaceboy and his rocketsicles' -- I always wanted to feature the character again, but never really had an idea i liked.

then I strated this carnival series for a friend back in the fall, and I knew that spaceboy would indeed be back.

Coming this summer to a carnival ground near you!

I love the retro look that the poster has. The color scheme is vivid, and the textures add a lot to the desired carnival look. I can tell what's manipulated, but looking at the other piece with spaceboy, is he an original sketch? If so, it's even more charming.

spaceboy is not an orignal sketch-- he was a tiny advert for popsicles in an old magazine from the 50's. He has been redrawn in some areas, but he is not an orginal sketch.

colour is one thing that i've never been afraid to play with. Not only do i look at the compostion of my piece.. but im also always looking the compostiion of the color. Of course I have to give thanks to my color and design instructor for laying those great foundations and teaching me to say.. "what if...."
