it wasnt in my scraps at one time, periodically i go through gallery and put images in scraps that i think arent as strong or that im not fond of anymore.

You have such a distinctive visual language and you utilise it so perfectly.
I really enjoyed this piece. Such an intriguing concept to explore. Makes me think of American Beauty for some reason.

thank you luckyred! art is language. art communicates so much on so many different levels--- each artist refines and expands that language-- adding nuance and syntax and accents here and there.

thanks.. so do i! lol.
that's probably the question that frustrates me the most-- i find it hard sometimes to describe my process. it's very organic and painterly. the way i build up layers and use brushes and tweak colour and tones. the magic wand comes in handy because it allows me to select intereting areas of my source material.

its like smack.
i like how it is not too complicated and pretentious - kind of to the point in a very poetic way, both visually and diction-wise...
kudos

hehehe. not complicated? that's interesting-- that's not how it felt when i was trying to resolve the image and find the theme. I always hope that i don't come off as too pretentious as well.

uhm... ok... well.. i didnt mean it as if the idea wasnt.. complex.
its hard to explain - but the piece is easier to grasp... yeah?

it does, doesn't it. i think i subconciously want to go back to the early 60s and sit on the floor of our aqua themed kitchen where i played with my matchboxes on the cold tile floor. what a view of fresh sparkling new jersey suburbia i had from there. and it actually was fresh and sparkling back then. hard to imagine now.

wow... you had an aqua themed kitchen. mine was filled with lots of brown and oranges-- and it was galley style. but i do remember the shag rug that was in our basement-- was hard to play on-- thats what the back patio was for, legos and matchboxes. I could also gaze out across the susquehanna river and look over into the little town of danville pennsylvania.

browns and oranges and shag sounds so nice and 70s. been over and near the susquehanna many times during our road trips. and i think i even have a cousin in danville! anyway, sounds like you had a groovy setting in which to play.

thanks--- this illustration took awhile to resolve-- it wasn't until i added the frames inside that created that panel look that it started to harmonize and come together
