The Reason they call him Super - Man is because he's SUPER. Not some twig in a cape. Or some lard-ass in spandex.I know I make him too SUPER but wtf - it's my interpretation, duh! so if you don't like the belt or his boxer briefs or his enormous pecs or the colour of his cape or that I spelled colour like a brit keep it to yourself. Ignorant comments just make me hide 'em, abusive people get blocked. End of story.

Oh yeah, regarding the "undies" on the outside... those were modeled on the outfits of the circus athletes of the day, the circus strongmen and the trapeze artists.Β They wore tights and briefs on the outside.Β In those days, showing actual skin was way too racy, thus the briefs over the tights.Β Now if theyΒ just wore the tights, in my mind, that would look too "naked" no matter what color the the tights were, and my eyes would zero in on the crotch to see if I could see a bulge, how much of a bulge I could see, and how detailed it was.Β Or even more disappointing, to see how flat it was.
So there should be simple briefs on the outside.Β They serve a purpose.

I totally agree with you. I posted my Superman image on another site and about half the people commented that he was too big.
I think Superman should subdue the criminals even before he says anything to them. I see him landing in front of the crooks, standing tall with legs apart, looking ferociously MEAN, and the crooks taking one look at that body and thinking, "Oh shit."
He's SUPERman, not Averageman.
Also what's neat to notice is how he was drawn in the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. Some people will argue that he was not drawn as muscular back then, but you have to stop and remember that in those days bodybuilding was seen as a fringe lifestyle, something that vain, dumb jocks took up as a hobby. Also, Superman was drawn that way because, at the time, that's what the most muscular men looked like.
People ask me how a muscular Superman could ever disguise himself as a regular guy. I remind them that Clark was raised on a farm, wasn't he? And they have lots and lots and lots and lots of fresh, wholesome foods available, right? Lots of hard labor and chores. It wouldn't surprise me to find a huge guy as the product of all that. And if he could skillfully pretend that his size makes him a little clumsy, that would be the icing on the cake.

Hi prmetheus.. your comment was the most reasonable and witty which I read since years.. I totally agree with you! I also get tired of the fact what the "new age" declare as "super" ... when I read the comics or watch the cartoons on TV okay but now in the movies... I really could scream sometimes "send those guys to the gym and not only to run on the treadmill
