Description
Observe: You need to click "Download" to see the animation. It's an animated GIF that's 6MB large, so while it loads for the first time it will look very choppy. As soon as it's fully loaded however it will loop and you'll see the full-speed beauty of it!--
Tried to learn GIMP's animation features and came up with this little animation. It was much easier than I thought actually, once the interface started to make sense.
For being my first I'm kinda happy about it actually.
It uses an old classic technique from the computer games of yesteryear -- parallax-scrolling. This is a neat technique to get perspective depth in an image without actually doing 3D.
This is not a flash thing but an AnimGIF, so it should play right away in your browser.

Nicely done. How long did it take you to make that?

It's pretty fast once one learns GIMP:s advanced animation editor (GAP). Two hours, maybe.

Thanks! It didn't really take that much patience to do, to be honest. GIMP's animation features are powerful once one understands them.

Hmm ... Not sure I'll have time to get Wine to work at this time. Thanks for the link though, I will look into that at some point.

Nice animation Griatch,
This would make a great web banner if animated with something like liveswif (.swf).

Thanks. I'm looking for such tools under Linux rather than Windows though. A way to reduce size without messing with quality too much, nor the availability of the animation would be great. Haven't been very successful yet (haven't looked that hard either to be honest )
