Description
Study trying out a new program. This is my first more complete image made entirely in the open-source paint program Krita ([link] ). Krita's assisted perspective grids are really a keeper, helped a lot with arriving at this design. It also has a lot of fun (and fast-to use!) brushes.Krita, a few hours.

Yeah, I agree that the foreground figures could maybe be a bit more realistic (for example, the boots seem rather large, though there may well be a reason for such outfits in this control room). But the central figure and surrounding energy stuff are really quite fantastic.

Thanks for the feedback! I went for a more 50's style spacesuit for the people in the foreground. I wanted to make them seem a bit clumsier and retro compared to the thing up front. Noone seems to see it that way but me though, so I probably missed the mark on that one. We'll see if I get back to adjust them.

I like the lighting and the fairytale-like quality of the scene. I'd prefer the "spacemen" to move either towards the realistic or towards the grotesque because they feel a bit like standing in some sort of "uncanny valley".
Otherwise, it is a very atmospheric piece.
Your courage in trying a new digital painting program and finishing a work with it is commendable.
Keep growing as an artist!

Thanks for the feedback! I tried a more 50's style of space suit for the astronauts in an attempt to emphasize their clumsiness compared to the thing in the background. No commenter seems to see it that way though, so I clearly was not conveying that well enough. I didn't quite expect uncanny valley to be coming into play with such exaggerated figures, that's an interesting observation. We'll see if I go back to make them more "realistic" at some point.
Krita is fun, it's always neat to try new stuff, can certainly picture me using it for more work. Thanks for the comment and encouragement!

The piece is called "Control room of Gods". Make of it what you will.

so that supernatural figure is a god?

Well, according to Arthur C. Clark's third law, "Any technology advanced enough is indistinguishable from magic". As far as we (and the astronauts at the bottom of the image) is concerned, that might very well be a god. It depends on what one means with a god.
Not sure if that answers your question.

I can't help but wonder if you are serious. This is a rather strange comment-conversation at any rate. Allow me to point out that there is a good way to get answers to questions like this: [link] . Hope that helps.

Nevertheless, that link gives a much better and comprehensive answer to who a world-renowned author is than I could summarize in a reply.

welcome to Krita world! sure all the team be glad to see your art here.
I agree the assistants are really cool, and a +1 for krita. Also the fast brushes makes krita a good tool for painters who need a good performance.
About the pic, i think the idea is good but the final result could be a bit more refined. The Figures are a bit cartoony in proportions but the theme is realistic, so we have 2 different styles there.

Thanks for the comment, TheShock! Krita is a neat piece of software, I can certainly picture myself using it more. It's the work of you and deevad that inspired me to get the system together to run it (so whereas I was early with using MyPaint, I'm rather late with Krita it seems).
As for the astronauts, I was aiming for a slightly 50's style spacesuit. The aim was to emphasize the clumsiness of the people in the foreground as compared to the creature in the background. So far noone seems to notice that contrast though, but rather feel it looks strange. So it seems I didn't convey that particular subtlety very well. We'll see if I go back and tweak them, thanks again for the feedback!
