in which Twilight has a nerdgasmMy half of an art trade with the awesome amazing RedApropos ! His half here~
The original idea and script were all his, I just revised a few things and put pictures to it
Joke here is about an apparently lesser-known fact about Cadance; she was born a pegasus. Not sure where it was stated first but it says so in her Wiki .
Still iffy about the darn speech bubbles
oh God I'm never drawing a Crystal Empire background again uuuuuuugh. This isn't even as detailed as the screenshot but I don't care

Twilight bets and wins. This info came from a non-canon children's book novella.
The writers said in a Q&A panel the IDW comics were the only semi-canon material. The novellas were completely non-canon.
The Hubworld summaries said she is the genetic-grand-niece of Celestia, just like Blue Blood. Only the non-canon novellas said otherwise, which were made for little kids by the marketing department, not the writers. Its as canon as Pink Celestia.

Just for the record. I have a Tweet from Meghan McCarthy herself that says the canonicity of "The Crystal Heart Spell" is in the "maybe" category. Just food for thought.

"Maybe" doesn't mean it isn't canon, I guess But for right now I'm taking both the comics and the show as canon until someone states otherwise.

I remember some of the folks at IDW saying that the comics start out based on canon, but that as they move forward they are likely to deviate in varying degrees from the show canon. They seemed to consider them a separate series of events branching off after the end of season 2, with no clear tie-in so far. On the other hand, the novels, which are separate from the comics, were originally considered by the creators to be more likely a part of show canon following season 3, but only time will tell if this ends up holding true once season 4 airs.

Twilight is fairly young, but she was made into an alicorn. Maybe even the present-day Twilight is the same age that Cadence was in those flash backs.

grievousfan In reply to TeenWolf952 [2013-08-30 03:41:25 +0000 UTC]
To me she looked like a teenager in the flashbacks and she was already an alicorn, so maybe she got turned into an alicorn when she was really young
Maybe the show people will clarify it eventually

Originally Faust had her as a Pegasus but Hasbro wanted a pink alicorn and also to sell the pink Celestias.

Yeah, but she has a canon back story of being a Pegasus before ascending to Alicornhood.

when there were the paranoia of alicorn twily on /mlp/ i knew cadance was made a alicorn, because flashback... and it was possible that twily would turn the same way into one.
does luna and celestia always alicorns? or they were made into one too?

According to G.M. Berrow's Twilight book she was a pegasus before she was an alicorn which many take as canon. However, Lauren Faust said she originally envisioned her as a unicorn (I'm pretty sure) and who knows if the show will give her another origin eventually.

cronomatt In reply to TheBaraclough [2013-09-02 23:02:36 +0000 UTC]
The show will likely give another origin sometime. (shrug)
The show and the IDW comics are the only thing the writers have acknowledged as canon(the show over the comics of course), so like most thing from the marketing department, the novellas will likely be washed away.
G.M. Berrow's depiction of Trixie and Gilda as generic antagonists was pretty sucky, and I doubt fans appreciate that.
