Urg.. I think some people just have the knack for character designing and some... don't..
Would you suggest starting with the body and adding different things to it?
Or thinking about the extras (like features and wings) and then coming up with a good body shape?

yes that works just as well ^^ Do all kinds of ways, the more you practice on diffrent things, the better you will be faster

^^ I would probably make the eyes one orange and one blue oposite of the eyes, like the eye on the orange ear side is blue. Maybe make the graybrown color more warm/orangebrown. I would get rid of the spot on the ass and use that pattern for the scarf instead maybe and remove the black lines, they pop out to much ^^ Cute character!

Btw.. You said its important that your charakters dont look the same in colors etc, but in Part 1 all three of the shown charakters have brown ears and legs and are all orange/brown.

This is because I have so many xD and I love those features. I still have characters that doesnt look the same. And I used the ones who did look the same to show that its actually possible to make characters with the same features and colors and still making them look diffrent from eachother

really? i though artists at you level of awesomeness didnt have that problem. i tried all day yesterday and i have a design i thought up but i can't seem to draw it! raaawwww super stressful XD and i can't get the stile right either

xD Im sure everyone has that problem. Sometimes I dont feel like my designs turn out good and it makes me do other things instead, while other times I draw several designs on a day.

Um yeah you have no idea how helpful this is it was almost like I had half of the puzzle in my head thank you *I'm trying to get myself out of a rut and what better way to do that with playing with my creative side* and you make it okay to have multiple OC's and I really just wanna see what I come up with <3 again Thank you soo much for all of your art work and help just keep doing what you love

I read both parts of the tutorial, but this part helped the most. I made a cute little feathered dragon using the 'I like list', and I love her to death. Before this I would make character designs spontaneously, but that never worked out too well. Also, you've reminded me of just how fun it is to draw big expressive eyes. >w>
