something that I have a lot of trouble with is coming up with patterns on fur and clothing I would love if you could please help me with that : ( then designing characters would be more fun and less stressful for me

Think of the fur as a shape instead of each furstrand being different :3 same goes for the clothing. Best way to learn how to make pattersn is study real clothing with patterns and such

Yeah but patterns on fur and so on works the same way as on clothing. Think of the animal as a 3D object and not a flat one. Most patterns are made with the shapes in mind

OMG I tried this but when I coloring it I heard a song 'Goodbye' don't know who sung it but somehow it made me think up a backstory and personality for my charrie and by then I was so in love with him I Β didn't bother to redraw him in different poses. Oh well. I'll revise his design later.

Also if you're going to make a whole gang of characters keep in mind to contrast them! if you do 5 pink cats with different colored eyes you will look very uncreative! and don't forget to do different animals as well!

ive found tht bright blue or bright green eyes work the best against dark colors. do u think thts good? my icon is an example someone made me. is the colors right? (i cant change but it would be helpful for any future refs. its a breed from a friend)

Any bright color works againts dark colors because you have one of the base contrasts at work which is dark light contrast. What hue of color however fits better together to make the design seem better is both subjective and a cause of other color theory contrasts. Like with your icon, the contrast would be even better if the canines fur were brown/red instead of brown/yellow since red and green are complimentary contrasts and you would get some warmth in there.

its hard to ssee cuz she doesn have a lot. shes mainly a brown/green. cuz my main wolf is brown with green hair and eyes. ^^

hey griff! 8D so after stumbling upon this great tutorial, I kinda sparked up a little idea. I usually have trouble designing my own characters, but my love for designing was most definitely inspired by your skills<3
