Im pretty sure you have heard/Seen this norwegian girl who claims shes a cat video by now, if not then let me tell you shortly.Norwegian girl claims to be a real cat, that got cat genes at birth, claims to see better in the dark and hear better even hunting mice in the night, communicate by meowing, crawling like a human I mean cat, and she doesnt like water and dogs which is obviously the most stereotypical version you can get of a cat.
Being a cat owner myself there is also tons of other things a cat wouldnt do that shes doing in this video but thats my point of view xD
BEFORE YOU GET THE WRONG IDEA I dont care if she believes shes a cat, thats completely fine, shes not hurting anyone and she can believe she is anything she wants
BUT
Dont use science to explain what you are when you dont know the basics of it. GENES cant suddenly make you into something else. What you feel like and what you are can be two completely different things, but your genes is not something you can wish to be something its not xD AM I THE ONLY ONE who is bothered by that??? A lot of people freak out at people who believe they are something else than a human, but that doesnt bother me, but You cant make up your own definiton of something that is defined because you feel like it, it just makes you look really friggin dumb . And btw cat people, a meow isnt just a meow there are so many different types of meows and what they mean.
Same with the damn crawl, cats dont crawl on their knees. if your magically got cat genes, you would atleast walk like a cat how they walk. Your just doing the basic human crawl, not a cat crawl.
As a cat owner and owner of many past cats she did not convince me a all. Be a cat! be a sofa, but dont justify it with science you dont understand.
A horse would be a cat before a human would since they share a closer ancestor. Not that their ancestor looked anything like a horse or a cat. But you get the gist

I was mostly referring to the Tumblr-style otherkins (whom Mamo reminds me of), rather than actual otherkins (whatever those are; I've been told there's a distinction but I don't research this stuff).
Either way, I kindof generalized and jumped to conclusions here, I guess. Sorry.

"tumblr" otherkin do not do this. in most online communities, including tumblr, her actions are frowned upon. you won't find many otherkin, regardless of origin, who will approve of her behavior.

I have been purposely avoiding that video, but after seeing it...
Not that I understand the concept of an otherkin very well, but it doesn't even look like she's sincere about it. Some people have better hearing and eyesight than others, I'll give her that. But how she talks about it just seems so half-hearted. She doesn't show any enthusiasm that I can see, and she kind of just pulls stuff out to say, throws some big words in and repeats herself a lot, as well as mentioning some cartoony stereotypes that have long-since been disproved. Combined with that forced-sounding 'hiss', and that she switched from acting like an able human and speaking, to acting like a helpless cat and meowing when the cameras are on her in her home, tells me that she's just kind of playing a part for fun rather than believing it, and using a science-y-sounding excuse to try to sell it. If someone did think that way about themselves, they wouldn't feel the need to make something up like that. Especially since nothing having to deal medically with a cat would even be near a human hospital.
I know there are people who genuinely believe themselves to be of the wrong species/gender/etc., but this girl just seems like she's pretending to see who will notice.

As an otherkin this is basically the stance I have on this whole madness.
Also I and the trans community would greatly appreciate the whole "otherkin is the same as trans because kin is wrong species and trans is wrong gender" thing to not happen since gender dysphoria has a lot more influence than species dysphoria due to the fact that being otherkin can be dealt with a lot more subtly than being trans.
To rephrase: otherkin=/=trans and saying kin=trans is potentially harmful to the trans movement

this vid insults me to no end as a human and someone who identifies as otherkin.
1: cats meow at humans, rarely at each other.
2: cats have no reason to hate dogs unless they were defiled by the dog in some way
3: cats don't hate water, or they wouldn't drink it. I've had a few cats that enjoyed swimming in my tub with me.
4: cats have paw pads for a reason
5: Cats use body language to communicate. Did anyone else notice how she was questioningly meowing when the interviewer asked her how to speak cat?
6: it's highly improbable that you can splice humans with cats.
7: There is no way in hell that she can fit on a windowsill or in a sink unless she is sitting on her butt
8: you cant 'suddenly' discover you had your genes spliced with a cat. You would have known for longer than that.
9: she switches from saying she was gene spliced to that she was born a cat in the wrong body..so an obvious lie is somewhere.
10: I don't think she actually knows anything about cats irl...or has even owned a cat.
If she wants to believe she's a cat, that's fine. As a human, I believe you have the right to believe anything you want...but don't make up bullspit to hide behind. Come out and say "I believe I am a cat, born in the wrong body" or "I believe i was a cat in a past life" (the second is my own personal belief but not a cat specifically), it's not that uncommon anymore. As a cat owner and otherkin, this is insulting to anyone smart enough to be sane. I believe that she might have deeper psychological issues than she believes...and her friend isn't helping with the matter with his own beliefs. I laughed so hard when she said come on let's go in "cat language" :,DDD Sure, because meowing is a language. I mean, cat's do communicate with meowing but signal language is much more important. I've heard that cats don't even meow that much when they communicate with other cats, they only do that with humans ??
But yea anyway, she can be a cat if she wants, but the way she said and explained everything sounded just so ridiculous :,D

This girl pisses me off to no end. Cats don't wear eyeliner and makeup, I can guarantee she's still taking showers to clean her hair, cats don't wear slutty fishnet stockings and short skirts. She's seriously doing this for attention and nothing more. When I was 5, I thought I was a horse. I galloped around on all fours and pretended to be one, but then I grew up.

I know right! It's so infuriating. Cats don't really meow to each other to communicate. They use body language. Plus, I can meow like a cat, and a lot of my friends can also do a realistic cat voice. Also, cats can't see in darkness, only in dim light.

And this is where lazyness gets you. At least she should have done some research before throwing 'scintific facts' around. Also I doubt something with mixed genes of a cat and a human would be able to live, since the hybrid dna would turn you into some messy mix of both species.
