Description Im pretty sure you have heard/Seen this norwegian girl who claims shes a cat video by now, if not then let me tell you shortly.

Norwegian girl claims to be a real cat, that got cat genes at birth, claims to see better in the dark and hear better even hunting mice in the night, communicate by meowing, crawling like a human I mean cat, and she doesnt like water and dogs which is obviously the most stereotypical version you can get of a cat.

Being a cat owner myself there is also tons of other things a cat wouldnt do that shes doing in this video but thats my point of view xD

BEFORE YOU GET THE WRONG IDEA I dont care if she believes shes a cat, thats completely fine, shes not hurting anyone  and she can believe she is anything she wants

BUT

Dont use science to explain what you are when you dont know the basics of it. GENES cant suddenly make you into something else. What you feel like and what you are can be two completely different things, but your genes is not something you can wish to be something its not xD AM I THE ONLY ONE who is bothered by that??? A lot of people freak out at people who believe they are something else than a human, but that doesnt bother me, but  You cant make up your own definiton of something that is defined because you feel like it, it just makes you look really friggin dumb .  And btw cat people, a meow isnt just a meow there are so many different types of meows and what they mean.

Same with the damn crawl, cats dont crawl on their knees. if your magically got cat genes, you would atleast walk like a cat how they walk. Your just doing the basic human crawl, not a cat crawl.

As a cat owner and owner of many past cats she did not convince me a all. Be a cat! be a sofa, but dont justify it with science you dont understand.

A horse would be a cat before a human would since they share a closer ancestor. Not that their ancestor looked anything like a horse or a cat. But you get the gist

wouldnt she be naked? running outside and killing stuff like birds and mice with her mouth. acting hostile towards humans, etc?

personally i just think shes going through a sub species of the wolfaboo phase.

That would be an interesting horse-cat indeed. Though, they have found skeletons of lions that were nearly as big as small horses. Yeah, would't want one of those thinking you are dinner. XD

This is.......xp

Yeah, I don't mind someone pretending to be something if it's not hurting some one else, but I agree....unless Norway decided it was okay to splice human genes with cat genes while babies were in the womb (and they would hear about it from the rest of the world, oh boy would they), there is no way a person can be born with cat DNA.  And you wouldn't find you are a cat when you were sixteen, you would be like that since birth.
And if you were some how successfully spliced with a cat, you'd probably mostly just get some fur, maybe some visually slit eyes, and your ears might be longer, or you would have extra little nubs for double ears.  Honestly, it /could/ actually get quite freaky, and the chance of it turning out as anything good is being excessively optimistic.  Or a sci-fi movie/anime/fantasy.

you can't splice cat genes with human genes to get cat characteristics. that's actually impossible.

Genisay In reply to FimbuIvinter [2016-01-31 00:52:59 +0000 UTC]

I know that.  That's why I said if you were /some how/ able, like in Sci-fi.  Because Sci-fi likes to make mutants through spliced genes and radioactive spider bites, even they they are impossible in the real world.

lumurs(Prosimii) are more closely related to us(Anthropoidia) then rabbits(Logomorpha), i believe you mean mice(Rodontia) on that branch. i'm sure it may of been weird placement and you meant that on the phylogenetic tree you drew.  everything else is perfect it makes me happy:>
sorry, after a 5 year degree in biology i notice these things, here is a chart! scienceblogs.com/evolgen/wp-co…
its a systematic(gene and physiology analysis) organization of mammals! it proves your point! cats(Felus, or Carnavora for that matter) had a common ancestor with us roughly 65 million years ago. that's  all the way back to when dinosours had just gone extinct!
SCIENCE!

p.s i appreciate this post including the illustration and digitigrade vs plantigrade diagrams.

god damn, why can't people accept that they're ugly not special humans instead of cute cats. you're nothing special, duh.

I saw that post today, and I think it's her choice. She wants to be a cat? Let her be a cat! You can be whatever you want. If you think you were born in the wrong body, be a goddamn cat and be the best cat there ever was. People change their gender because they feel they were born in the wrong body! It's no difference. She might not be the smartest, telling something is wrong with her genes, but I wouldn't call that justifying it. She is just a bit stupid.
Just gonna leave that here for the people who are still argueing about her not being a cat...

Soooo, she never washes huh? Because, uh, she hates water, and "washes" her face by licking her hand and covering her body in her own spit and bacteria. Am I the only one who thought, "ew"?

griffsnuff In reply to Vixenkiba [2016-01-29 17:08:15 +0000 UTC]

Not to mention she would have to lick her butt which to a human is NOT healthy.

At least a cat's mouth is much cleaner than a human's due to a special saliva that destroys all germs and bacteria xD A human's mouth is just damn nasty.

NautiIus In reply to ??? [2016-01-29 09:55:39 +0000 UTC]

Aye, there was so many things wrong with her 'cat behavior'. Like that meowing is not the language of cats. Feral cats rarely meow at all as cats often only meow to their owners or to get their owner's attention.

But the thing that bothered me the most is.. how can the professionals helping her accept this? This is not a scientific thing, this is completely psychological and wishful thinking. She can be all she wants in her mind, but when she bases it's on "because science", it turns cringeworthy.

S-k-u-l-l-s In reply to NautiIus [2016-01-30 18:12:52 +0000 UTC]

About the professionals, I was thinking the same thing. Why didn't the news station go interview them to see what they had to say? I really doubt they were saying "oh yeah, you have cat genes." I think it was more like, "you have genes that make you more prone to thinking like you do." Definitely psychological.

Genisay In reply to NautiIus [2016-01-29 18:18:43 +0000 UTC]

I think it's actually kind of funny that they have noticed that the noises cats use with us are the same ones even feral cats will use with kittens. So there are (at least jokes) of them seeing as as strange, but tolerable, hairless babies. XD

DOGPlSS [2016-01-29 04:24:58 +0000 UTC]

OK story time, I have this cat named Missy and she isn't exactly the nicest cat when it comes to other cats, she always hisses at them and acts incredibly aggressive towards them. So that's why me and my family thought she'd also really hate dogs too, but when we introduced Missy to my nan's new puppy, she gave it a little sniff and then couldn't really care less, even when the puppy was acting loud and hyperactive, Missy didn't hiss once and just didn't care. So yeah, my cat hates other cats, but doesn't care about dogs at all. At one point, I also had another cat named Hunter, and I never once heard them meowing at each other.

Also, I heard somewhere that cats slowly blink at each other as a way of saying hello? I'm not sure if that's true, but ye XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DaisyPop In reply to DOGPlSS [2016-01-29 06:24:30 +0000 UTC]

The slow blink can be something closer to an "I love you", and a cat that doesn't trust you wont do this to you. The little head bob they do is also like a "Hey, what's up" kinda deal.

MrsVolv [2016-01-29 02:29:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh gosh... she is nothing like a real cat...
I mean... it's not how cats communicate, like human words but with meowing - they communicate by movements, many different noises etc, and it's not that the noise is an actual word like in a human language...
Also fun fact - cats most likely don't meow to each other, they developed it as a way to communicate with humans. And it's a wrong stereotype that cats and dogs hates each other - actually they couldn't care less about each other species...

Oh man... I belive she belives she is a cat, but... c'mon! That guy - her friend makes much more sense.

Er...
I watched the video...
It's sad, in my opinion. To be honest, I think she's talking out her arse.

My cats don't even sound like that, nor do they hiss at dogs. My piano teacher has a dog and a cat and they're best friends, soo... "natural instinct," sure, Nano. Sure. *sarcasm evident*
Strange, dodgy child... I don't think the reporter was convinced either.
That little "conversation" between her and her almost-as-weird friend... it looked to me like she was laughing xD

My overall reaction to this:

 INSULT TO CATS, GODDAMNIT
