According to the poll I set up, the people have voted and it seems I'll be drawing the rest of the Senshi (inner and outter)! I figure I'll start with the inner and maybe take a break before tackling the outer. If I can keep the pace up, all the inner will be completed by July just in time for my very first trip to Anime Expo. Super excited for that! So much to draw but so little time!So here's my take on this month's Senshi - Sailor Mars!

I recall Sailor Mars being very strong minded and always getting on Usagi/Sailor Moon's case about being lazy. But in the end those two always managed to work things out to some degree. When Rei is not Sailor Mars and roasting monsters of the week, or a shrine maiden, she's a school girl going to private all girls academy and aspires to have a future in pop culture with her talent as a singer.
How many of you started your anime fandom with Sailor Moon? Any fond memories?

I thought Minako was the one who wanted to be a singer.

I think she mentioned she had aspiration for becoming a singer during theepisode called Raye's Day in the Spotlight (English dub version from the 90s) where she performs songs she created for her school's festival. Could be mistaken.

Rei being a Shrine Maiden (Miko) shows that she has had to work hard in her life. Not only has she her Temple duties, duties that will take up the majority of her free time but she is a normal student as well. Add Sailor Scout to the mix and anyone should be able to understand her short temper with the sloth known as Sailor Moon. Rei is also, to my knowledge, the only Sailor Scout with true powers that can toast a demon when not in Scout form. Toasting demons is a Miko's duty. Who knows, perhaps Rei dreams of being a true Priestess in the future.
Then, Sailor Mars / Rei is my favorite so perhaps I am biased? Very nice art by the way, very nice art.

Rei is probably one of the hardest working scouts with powers outside of her sailor scout form. Mikoto is probably the only one that can take a monster on without transforming from what I can recall in her intro episode. Minako was also interesting since she worked with Interpol as a crime fighter while in the UK before going to Japan to meet the rest of the scouts.

Mercury Mars and Jupiter are my favorite scouts, and i gotta say your artworks of them are wonderful.

I do have some fond moments that I liked like when rei stared in the autumn festival all I can say is god rei has a voice of an angel

I remember that episode. Just went to Youtube to watch it again in English from how I remember it as a kid but then also watched the Japanese version of it which I've never seen/heard before!

She was one of my favourites back then. And yeah, this was one of my first animes.

I have to admit, it wasn't until maybe later in the series that I started to like her character. I'd like to see what I think of her now since they're releasing the original episodes on Hulu a few episodes each week.

Your Mars is amazing. I really love how you shaded her hair.
I remember my fandom maybe not starting with Sailor Moon but it had the largest influence on me. I remember actually crying when Mamoru and Usagi realized she was the Moon Princess and even more so when Rei forced Usagi to leave her behind and go fight Beryl.
Granted since I was child I've grown to think of Rei/Usagi in a romantic light, but even still there relationship regardless of it's type really became the heart and driving force for me to watch the show.

I never thought about Rei and Usagi in a romantic relationship but it puts an interesting twist to their interactions. I'm really look forward to all the episodes being released so I can re-watch them. I always recall those two arguing nearly every episode so it'll be interesting to see what I think about them now that I'm older.

yeah has it ever been explained why they argue from what I've seen I don't really know why even though I will admit it is funny watching them fight I kind like to see a death battle between the two of them placing on bets on rei XD

Funny you comment about that. I randomly stumbled upon a video clip on Youtube where Rei and Usagi start arguing because Rei accidentally saw Mamoru naked. It was so random. Now I have figure out what episode that came from...
