Jan! You've got to watch your back! Jan!!!!I loved Space Ghost when I was a kid, before Cartoon Network turned him into a punchline. Sure the stories were simplistic and that damn monkey seemed to save him nearly every episode. He had more powers than you can imagine and a great look thanks entirely to the great Alex Toth. He had great looking adversaries, particularly Metallus. When Metallus spoke (or Ted Cassidy spoke for him), you knew he wasn't someone to be messed with.
And he had Jan. Jan was nice. Not terribly competant, but I wouldn't mind sharing a Phantom Cruiser with her. And the damn monkey got to hug her, too!

Love that you drew this! I remember the good ol' days with this show. Anyway, I seem to remember her always being a hostage. Always getting into trouble. And this is perfect for those situations!
Her pose is nice, and I love the tentacle going over her mouth. She looks cute and vulnerable...which she is!

Space Ghost is a dam CLASSIC when it comes to the Comic Book genre; he was pure Super Hero which is rare these days and now a bunch of fools think he's some kind of "TICK" comedian which is just plain wrong.
Like nowadays people think that Lana Lang is a chinese girl (smallville), some think Catwoman is African, and that Bale Begins is suppose to be batman or Bruce Wayne (that character was a serious loser who any of us could beat the hell up). This picture is really nice shot of that awesome show, and yes Jan is one of the coolest, sweetest, (and hottest) superheroines on the block.
This is a really nice piece of work here. Hope you can do more of her!

And how could I not comment on an excellent rendition from a TV show that I used to love??
Jan looks much better than she ever did on the show, of course. Most of all, I'd like to comment on how well you caught her positioning and perspective here. The way that you've used different positioning for each arm and leg really makes the picture come to life in my opinion. In particular, the way that her right leg is twisting slightly seems to show that its motion is in response to the wrapping motion of the tentacle.
These sorts of details are often overlooked, but you really got it here, and your success makes the picture seem to be a real moment of action caught in freeze frame. Excellent work!

I love this picture (I faved it) but since you asked for criticism in your most recent journal, I will point out something that did bother me when I first looked at it. I don't like that her costume is the same shade of yellow as the spaceship (or similar enough). It probably wouldn't bother me as much if she wasn't directly in front of it, making it so that their twin yellows meet on the page. Great work on the anatomy though.

A valid point. My intent was to follow the color scheme of the cartoon and they did use the same yellow for Jan's costume and the Phantom Cruiser, probably as a cost-cutting tactic. But that doesn't mean I couldn't have varied it.

Oh right. Actually I know a lot of cartoons / comics that did that simple color-scheme tactic. Well in that case the only thing you could have done would be to make the space ship separate from her costume (on the page that is).

Hey, Jan was one of my very first fantasies! When I was just a wee lad, back in the 1960s, in my prepubescent years! There was a scene where she got KOed, and I felt... something... well, it started me on my path to becoming a full-fledged "superheroine-in-peril" fetishist. I have not been the same since. Ha!
