Description
Well, here it is, finally. I started it back in June, got distacted by a computer game, then by a holiday, then by another computer game, then by my girlfriend, then by work...but yes, it's finished now. Once again the detail is missing in the picture because of constraints in file-size, and the tonage has altered because I had to use a flash on my camera to make the lines clear against the paper.I'm off to write a novel now, as part of National Novel Writng Month (go to nanowrimo.org for more info), and hopefully I'll be around after I've done that. Stay safe, peeps.

For this I used Edding Profipens, which have a really hard 0.1 head (sometimes I used a 0.3 to fill in areas quicker). I've recently started using Derwent PITT pens because the ink is a bit quicker, but that's at the sacrifice of really tight lines. And then even more recently I've been using Sharpie pens, which bleed a little more into the page, but it's possible to cover ground much quicker with them.
Sorry... I get a bit geeky talking about my pens.

no worries. i'm a geek about pens myself. although not on this account.
cool pens. must be an UK thing cause i can't find anyone that carries them in the states. i been using Microns for a while now. they're more like the edding ones you described. clean lines but a little dry. as far as the sharpie goes, they're not acid-free so they ruin the paper eventually. at least that's what i know. thanks for the watch.

Oh jeez... I hadn't thought about the acid part... balls. It'll be fine, I'm sure... lol "I'm a geek about pens" and had forgotten about the acid in them. Shit.

I was honored just to get the DD -- I hadn't realised that to get one from zeruch was such a big deal. I'm doubly flattered now!

hehe i dunno if it's a big deal in general, but it would definitely be a big deal for me... have you seen his work?

Thanks very much
Interesting that you mention the separation -- in this instance it wasn't as 'determined' as it may appear. It's only after this piece that I realsied the benefits of leaving some areas blank: here, it was just a happy accident.

I know you did, dear -- I always felt a little bad because I never thought it lived up to the promise of the first detail... but that's only because you said you liked that one so much...

I used Permanent Ink, using 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5mm nibs and a number of thick black permanent markers. It's A2 size, so basically about the same size as four pices of printer paper edge to edge. I also used a compass and pencil right at the very beginning to sketch out the circels, but after that it was freehand all the way.

Start big is my best advice -- tiny pens on massive paper. By the time you're finished people will be so amazed you filled a massive sheet of paper with tiny lines it won't matter whether the lines are any good.

Fineliners -- I can't remember exactly who by at the moment, but they're very similar to Eddings Profipens. Make sure you use Permanent Ink though -- it won't smear while you're drawing, and won't dissapear over time (unless the paper rots, so I'd suggest getting good solid paper too)

Thank you for your kind words. Don't be too quick to jump to jealousy, though -- doing this sort of thing has given me a slight kink in my back and I'm now ripe for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
