Personality:

When he was younger, Diamond was ambitious bordering on arrogant, but not unkind; he genuinely wanted to help people, and put in the work to do so. He was organized, energetic, playful, and planning big things from a fairly young age.

After a traumatic brain injury and a forced career change… disillusionment, internalized ableism, and cognitive symptoms of the TBI itself led to a pretty nasty downward spiral. Diamond grew irritable, depressed, alcoholic, and impatient; his arrogance gained a bitter edge.

That said, he was still Diamond. He's a dork with a fondness for science, music, and wordplay. He likes explaining things, and he often feels responsible for others' wellbeing.

Brief History:

On his original homeworld of Mars and in his original timeline, Diamond was an embittered former neurosurgeon who had found a new career as a QA coordinator at a cybernetics firm. He met Clemcy in the depths of his disillusionment; Clemcy offered to heal Diamond's dysfunctional telepathy and to teach him more powerful abilities in exchange for Diamond's technical and financial support with his own projects.

Diamond took the deal, and several years of embezzlement and illegal experimentation followed. The two of them got along quite well with one another… so long as Diamond ignored Clemcy’s treatment of other people and the sneaking suspicion that this was not a deal that he could ever back out of safely.

(He eventually proved himself right. Having gotten what he wanted from Clemcy, and after discovering some of Clemcy’s lies and least savory pursuits, Diamond confronted him. In response to the perceived betrayal, Clemcy mutilated, cursed, and killed Diamond for the first time.)

Emphasis on public transport, walkable living spaces with raised walkways (and a decrepit understory), and greenery worked into architecture and public spaces. Magic is minimal and only fully realized with the aid of cybernetic implants. Culture emphasizes conflict minimization and resolution, and prioritizes collective well-being over individual indulgences.
