EDIT 6/11/19: I realized how ridiculous the picture looks so I'll be separating them into batches similar to my recent "Redraw N Update" line of pictures I've been doing recently. I'll link them to one another once the others get uploaded.

EDIT 9/9/18: So, since I got some free time to kill again, I went and finally finished the whole relining of a lot of the character art of the characters seen above whilst also adding some new characters in here. This whole relining/rework thing was in response to the release of Sonic Forces and my excitement for it (I enjoy it for what it is and it's fun game. But I can't shake the feeling that were some decisions made in it that are really questionable, like how it feels like the game is holding your hand a lot in the Avatar stages.) which made me want to redo the character art of the characters I have in the picture above. This whole new upload is primarily going to be used as a reference for any future pictures I plan with them, so... no shading.

But in any case, for those who just came in here and saw this for the first time, here's some context. This was something I did way back in 2016 where I uncovered some old Sonic Styled characters I designed along time ago back in my purely Sonic art days. And feeling nostalgic, and having that itch to draw Sonic Styled art, I went and redrew them again with some updates to their designs. The character's, specifically the first 8 on the left side, were characters based on a stupidly convoluted (and cringey as fuck) story line for a character of mine named Sleyne way back in 2012 which lasted to 2013, where he died.. and stuff. But after thinking about it at the time and having some major improvement on my own art style, I decided to rework all the notable characters from that story into a new beginning in the form of a new universe which evolved into what it is today, leaving the cringey old universe and story dead and forgotten....that is until today.

SO, the characters seen above have their whole backstories based on the old cringey story line/universe (apart from the ones I designed on the avatar creator in Sonic Forces.). This "continued" story line/universe takes place on planet Exodus 4 years after Sleyne's "Death", 3 years after the disappearance of many of the members of Sleyne Brigade and 3 years after a massive war broke out on the planet due to their disappearance.

Redline The Porcupine - A 19 yr old street racer from Wave Hill City. One of the 8 survivors from Wave Hill city after the chaos that ensued back in 2013. He, alongside Alice and Yansen, got out of Wave Hill city before things went down and they've hunkered down in Mirage Desert for years till the war died down. Prior to the war breaking out, he was an avid street racer in Wave Hill, being known as somebody who would push the limits of their car. Literally redlining it every time whilst racing or just outrunning the cops who try to stop the races he's in. Though, thanks to his partner in crime mechanic Yansen, the highly tuned engine doesn't explode when he does. Thanks to his street racer background, he's able to get out of serious situations very quickly and can outrun bandits/rogues out in the dunes with the aid of the modifications done by Yansen. Energetic and friendly he easily gets along with everyone he meets. Not unless he feels a little iffy with them. He's most of the time seen fixing something up on his car or is out searching for parts or other mechanical bits that were left from the war, other times he would be seen just chilling with the others.

Alice The Fox - 18 years of age and is one the 8 survivors from Wave Hill city, this short little girl had gotten out of Wave Hill city with Redline and Yansen before the war ensued over the planet back in 2013. Prior to the war, she was a beta tester for a lot of the games that would come out in the gaming scene. Finding all the glitches and playing the games in ways that the games weren't meant to be played to break them. She's most of the time seen playing around with her handheld console. The pin on her overalls is proof to this, as she's the winner of a video game tournament that was held on the planet a couple of years back. Because of this, she has a habit of imitating actions from the games she plays. From attacks, to getting over obstacles, you name it, she has probably imitated it. Often times working perfectly when in actual combat but other times, not so much as shown by her shortened tail. Happy go lucky and very playful *despite her age* she enjoys being around with the other survivors and would often times challenge them into 2 player matches on her handheld console.

Yansen The Cat - A 19 yr old mechanic from Wave Hill city, she along side Redline and Alice, got out of Wave Hill city before the war broke loose. They've hunkered down out in Mirage Desert inside a cave beside a lake that was originally rumored to be there. Prior to the war, she used to work for a tuning shop in Wave Hill up until she met Redline. After that point, they became an inseparable duo having been a usual sight at most of every street race in Wave Hill. With her masterful work being showcased at full send at every race thanks to Redline's driving style. Very resourceful at heart, she was able to scavenge out for materials and parts when she and Redline would go on parts runs. Turning that cave into a living spot for them and the 5 others they've met a long the way. Social ,curious , and a nut for modifying things, you would see her most of the time tinkering with something when and when not around friends, and if not feeling the need to tinker she'd just be there chillin'.

Volken The Mechidna - (Previously known as Seared) Former member of the now non existent Sleyne Brigade, Volken is one of the 8 survivors from Wave Hill city. An android who has been scarred from memories long since have passed. He's been questioning himself ever since Sleyne's death, the members not remembering him and the other member's disappearance as being "real". He woke up with his lower half crushed by one of the support pillars of the Sleyne Brigade HQ. He tore himself off and had to transfer his data to a training robot which he morphed into his proper appearance. He alongside Snow, Nami, Akina and Charlotte left Wave Hill city after the chaos. They met Redline and Yansen on their parts run, and eventually they were taken in by them and has helped out keeping bandits/rogues at bay around the area they live in. Although Volken is an android, he has the ability to feel and sense just like a true living being. Serious, cool and reserved he can blast through enemies with his transformable arms and even use them as thrusters when running.

Akina and Nami The Foxes - (Previously known as Tammi and Tabbie) Shrine guardians of what was the memorial shrine of Sleyne, they've awoken from their slumber after one of the pillars supporting the base crushed the shrine ,during the chaos, which caused them to wake up.Although they were confused at first, they soon realize how big of a problem this was after looking out of the destroyed base. They went and gone looking for any survivors in the base but only found Snow, who was knocked out, and Volken a few minutes later alive and well. They healed Snow and all of them got out to check around the city for any survivors. They only found one survivor throughout the city and it was Charlotte. They healed her up and they proceeded to walk out of the city where they eventually met up with Redline and friends. If you haven't noticed yet, Akina and Nami are twins, Akina being the oldest from the both of them by a minute despite them never mentioning their actual age. Akina's abilities are based upon giving life,and is able to control and manipulate where plant life grows and how they form. While Nami has the ability to control and manipulate waves (water), making them whatever size she wants them to be at will. Both are incredibly nice and friendly, and are willing to help people in need.

Snow The Rabbit - (Previously known as Snowball) Age 20,a former member of the now non existent Sleyne Brigade, Snow was one of the most skilled fighters that the brigade had to offer. Quick, stealthy and deadly he was one of the few to call upon in the team when they needed a job done fast and clean. A katana user, he has practiced the use of the weapon ever since he was a young boy at the age 4, perfecting his fighting style over time. He was tasked to join the war back in 2013 but denied it due to the idea that nothing will be solved from this matter of fighting. He got himself quarantined due to this and he just waited for the end to come. As the war escalated in 2015 Wave Hill got struck by a hailstorm of bombs from the sky which destroyed the Sleyne Brigade base causing the building to collapse and crush the cell Snow was in. Snow got knocked out cold because of it and was reawaken by Akina a year later once the war cooled down. He, Akina, Nami, Charlotte and Volken got out of the city and eventually met up with Redline and they've set up home base over on Mirage Desert.

Charlotte The Cat - (Previously known as Kathy) Age 16 and is one of 5 survivors from Wave Hill city. The last remaining supporter of what was once Sleyne Brigade, she was trapped under the rubble of one of the buildings near the Sleyne Brigade HQ in 2015 after a bomb had blown beside the building she was taking refuge in which in turn knocked her out due to the blast. She was later found by Akina and co. and was healed back up to health before proceeding to walk out of the city where they eventually met up with Redline,Alice and Yansen. Friendly, caring and very sweet she gets along with everyone very quickly even after the traumatizing events she witnessed. Although after a brief scan by Volken, it's been confirmed that she suffers amnesia and can't remember the events prior to her getting knocked out. And try as they might to jog her memory, she can't seem to recall anything at all.

Jammie The Rabbit - A 20 yr old hoverboard racer who originally came from Crystal Point. She was originally supposed to take part in Mirage Desert's round of a tournament she was competing in back in 2015. However, due to the war escalating in 2015, and other countries got involved, the war spread out like wildfire all over most of the populated areas of the planet. She was riding a jetliner at the time going towards Mirage Desert and was about to land for refuel until her plane got shot down. The plane broke apart and acting quickly, got on her hoverboard and skydived out of the wrecked plane. Knowing she woudn't be able to slow herself enough, she ditched herself into a river where she passed out due to the force of the landing. Later, she was then found by Volken and Snow and was healed back up. After waking up dazed and confused, Snow explained to her what had happened and who they were. She thanked them, and gladly accepted the offer of staying with them, since to her, they're the only sane remaining people on the planet. Calm and friendly, she's usually seen hanging around with the others often times being pestered by Alice to teach her sick moves to her. And if not, would be out and about on her hoverboard, thanks to Yansen for repairing it, scouting or just overall having fun with her board.
