These were the words of the king as he looked down to his two sons. One, older than another holding younger one down while he tried to struggle his way out crying, not because of physical hurt but more from wounded pride and frustration of his.

Now what might have been on young noble's mind when he pulled the feathers of the screaming Royal chick and kicked sand on its eyes - made this innocent fluffy being feel - not welcomed but humiliated and hated? Prince did not feel gratitude for the rare gift he had received for his 11th birthday, no. No joy for the fact that he would get to raise this angrily screeching bird with his own very hands and take on to the sky with older brother, sisters and cousins of his when time was right. No, even if Kaspar was raised as second son of the king, and would be advisor and right hand for his older brother who would inherit the crown, he had too much pride in him when he was expected to be the humble one. After all their royal family were raised to believe that the king is a "sacrifice" for his people. Watching his older brother receive Gryph chick and harpias made young boy still jealous and bitter and blind for the good in front of him, much like any other young boy would. But he was expected to be above such feelings and certainly no one expected him to hurt anyone.

And so now shocked silence had fell on yard - aside from still noisy and panicked chick in front of the young prince.

Taking his frustration out on a Royal tyto chick right in front of the fire mage who was gifting it to the young boy, put the king in a rare situation of having to apology for his son's demeanor. Meanwhile it was Kaspar's older brother, the crown prince who made the boy really atone for his behavior. Both princes lowered their heads in front of the mage and his fiery colored Harpia and apologized for insults. After this Kaspar silently accepted his brothers demanding of having to nurse stryx over night and not in some royal palace room but at the stables. It was no doubt the longest night in a small boys life. His mind still black mirroring the one of the stryx that shared the room with him. At some point of that night the dark clouds started to fade and he really saw the shivering, fearful creature in front of him and felt a sting in his heart. It took him a long while and he was not really good at it but he managed to force bandages on the animal and then had a brawl with it while trying to hold him down and keep him warm. At that time he did not really do it for real affection. He was afraid of what he would get if they saw there was no progress at all and so he lied anxious wide awake for that long night wondering if anyone, even the bird would ever forgive him and his idiocy.

Later on, when his brother and father and sisters were gone, he would look back to those days and that night which really made him realize how lonely he was before that.
