I think it's nice that you're paying homage to him as an inspiration. May want to shoot him a note explaining that you felt inspired by his art and topic to give your hand a shot, you know?
Also, there might be some other 'ideas' you can play off for a daily theme other than sleeping! Perhaps interrupting them during lunch, them getting out of a fresh shower (ie bath towels and wet hair) or them on a hot day laying about sweating with fans, etc. So many ideas, I wish I had drawing talent to do some of that but as a writer the best I can do is come up with an idea XD
